January in California

Here’s a little video clip of a January trip to Sonoma County, CA a few years ago. Scenic barn! Live oak! Birdsong!

And a still from the same scene. I wish you a scenic 2020.

Santa stomping grapes

Visited friends who have a food-themed Christmas tree. Here is a Santa-stomping-grapes ornament, because why not?

Tulips in April

Had to go to the archives for some tulips. They bloom around here (Western Washington) in April. Be sure to visit the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival at least once in your life, if you can. They really do look like this:

Live oak tree and barn

I took a photo of this same scene many years ago, taken against a dramatic sky in March, as I remember, but here it is again, taken last week in January. It was great to find the exact spot and I was happy that the sun peeked out for a bit of shadow on the barn wall for me. This huge old live oak tree, certainly over 100 years old, is in Sebastopol, California, out on Sanford Avenue. This photo is one of my very top faves, so I’m putting it in my Best Posts of the Week category.

Visit Scenic Sunday and Shadow Sunday for more intriguing photos, and SOOC for more with no tweaking, or straight out of the camera. And browse around here and at Free Photos for some pretty pictures if you have a moment.

Northern California spring scene

This is one of my top faves, from the archives, from when I used to live in Sonoma County, CA, which is about an hour or so north of San Francisco. I came across it and thought I might have taken it at about this time of year, or maybe March. Those huge live oaks are so dramatic when they are bare. Sure gives you that changing weather feeling of early spring.

Visit Scenic Sunday for some lovely views of the world. And this sure is a great shadow shot for Shadow Shot Sunday.

Since this is one of my all-time favorites, I’m tagging it Best Post of the Week.

Also, I’ve fixed the little problem with comments not being available when you click on a category to the left. Now comments are available whenever you click on a page (or should be).
