Walking the dog in snow

Last week it snowed hard, and people walked their dogs anyway.

Afternoon light

Just a few days ago, sweet sunshine in the afternoon on my patio.

Blue house with rhodies

A week or two ago, driving around Burien, WA, I saw this house. Color to the max.

Winter shadow scene

It’s hard to know what to call a scene like this. It’s just dried hydrangea blossoms on the bush, caught in some wonderful light on Christmas Day. I thought it looked good in black and white since the colors were kind of dull. Do you like it?

Blueberry fall leaves

These potted blueberry bushes in a friend’s healthy garden are just the cat’s meow when it comes to fall color. Aren’t they incredibly brilliant? Hard to believe that a plant with so fabulous a fruit pleases the eye so much, too.

Visit Ruby Tuesday for more red and Color Carnival for more color of all kinds. And check out SOOC (straight out of the camera) shots for more unedited photos.

A rose for you today

This is the spirit of June, as far as I am concerned. I was blessed that day with being able to see, smell and photograph what seemed like a million roses at the Woodland Park Rose Garden in Seattle, right next to the zoo. I prefer roses to animals, myself.

Every now and then, I feel like posting a photo from that glorious day. Wish we could smell it, too.

Flower for today: early rhodie

It was not as cold as it had been, before this latest rain cycle, so the other day I got out for a walk. There were some rhododendrons actually blooming. Spring is always so amazing. The thrill of the first one! Of course, as my sister says, “Somebody has to go first,” so I guess I shouldn’t always feel so surprised. Everyone else still sleeping, and this brave soul just blooming its little heart out.

Rose Garden for Today's Flowers

This is Seattle’s Woodland Park Rose Garden, in late June. It was much bigger than I expected. So much fun to be able to take endless numbers of photos with a digital camera. The sense of abundance matched the display.
