Variegated pink weigela

I love this shrub, pronounced “why-GHEEL-a.” Not only is the foliage extremely nice and accepts pruning well, but it has these super pretty pink flowers as well!

Happy Mother’s Day! Let’s focus on one of the many things that unite us—a woman gave birth to each and every one of us. Thanks, Mom!

Cherry tree in bloom

Right across from my house, the pink tree magnificence, at least when the sun comes out. An early spring this year. Sorry, Boston!

Spring cherry tree

Not too many flowers blooming around the neighborhood right now, so I’m posting an image for our Southern hemisphere friends: cherry blossoms from the opposite season, from a tree close to my old house in Des Moines, WA.

More cherry blossoms

Saw these incredible trees today in Georgetown near the Seattle Design Center. That neighborhood has the most magnificent old cherry trees! If you are a fan of streets lined with masses of pink, head on down there. For your oooh-ing pleasure! I love this image and I’m calling it my Best Post of the Week.

Cherry trees

This photo of cherry trees in bloom in the hazy sunshine is from a couple of weeks ago. Spring is moving fast here, with the big pink and white trees and the yellow forsythia now mostly giving way to the spring bulbs beginning. I wanted to show you this amazing street in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle before it was too long past.

A pink tree is happening!

Alert the newspapers, spring has been sighted! I saw these branches blooming in downtown Seattle a couple of days ago, while all else remains bare. As I circled the (cherry blossom? or flowering plum?) branch in full digital-camera-mode of taking LOTS to choose from later, a woman passerby said, “C’mon, spring!” and I couldn’t agree more.
