Purple hellebore macro

I love flowers that bloom in wintertime. The weather is still very cold and gray in the Seattle area, but the hellebores are being beautiful for us, already.

Big leaves

This perennial plant with huge leaves emerging at the Seatac Highline Botanical Garden might be ‘Smaragd’ bronzeleaf rodgersia (R. podophylla ‘Smaragd’) because that’s what looks closest on google images. Let me know if that’s not right.

Toothed and notched huge leaves of bronzeleaf rodgersia. I think.

Apple blossoms

It was overcast but the little apple tree was blooming anyhow. Hope the bees find it.

Pink hydrangea

Had a truly lovely visit to PowellsWood garden in Federal Way, WA the other day. Magnificent! Only three acres, but so lovingly created and tended. Kudos to them.

Darling pink hydrangeas, perhaps a tree?

Hydrangea photo print

Since so many people have asked for them, I’ve created 8″ x 10″ archival quality photo prints from some of the images in my book, Flowers of Volunteer Park Conservatory: Blooming Month by Month. I’ve matted them in white to 11 x 14″ and signed each one. You can look at the others available and order them here or by clicking on the Prints tab above. Which is YOUR favorite one?
