Lemon yellow dahlias

I recently gave away some extra garden plants I had, and a neighbor who picked some up brought a bouquet of dahlias from her garden as a thank you. I have heard of dahlias called dinner-plate size, but thought that was poetic license. This is for real. Here is her bouquet on my kitchen table, with a regular box of tissues there for scale.

Table shadows

At dinner out last night, the very late afternoon light was truly golden. A still life with shadows.

Fruit bowl

Winter in Seattle, so far north, can be challenging when the light is so reduced. But the good part of the low-angled sun is that when it actually is sunny, the light streams in the south windows and makes marvelous shadows. This is my kitchen counter the other day. I love this image and I’m calling it my Best Post of the Week. Thanks for stopping by!

Shadowed lemons

My daughter brought some Meyer lemons from her friend’s lemon tree in California. We gave lots away and still had plenty. They taste stronger and sweeter than regular lemons. And so beautiful, as well. For more interesting shadows from all points of view, click HERE.

I just heard that the Shadow Shot site’s muse, Tracy AKA Harriet, is having computer trouble. Oh no! Hope it’s solved soon.
