Hydrangea blossoms
This old fashioned hydrangea is so easy to grow. I had some hydrangea flowers at my wedding, years ago.
As long as it is kept moist (“hydra” is a clue!) with nice humus-y soil, it will be happy even in full sun up here in Seattle, but I think it is easier to keep happy in shade or part shade, where it still blooms nicely. Another neat thing about them is that prunings made in the spring are extremely easy to root. Just push the stems into the shaded soil, keep moist, and soon you will have new hydrangeas!

And they change color depending on the mineral content of the soil. You might have a bush with different colored blossoms becasue of something added to the soil on one side of the bush.
what gorgeous detail and that is my favourite shade of hydrangea…
These hydrangea lookso delicate. The blue colour is unique! Very informative post!
I could just sit and stare at those for a long while; we don’t have them here. Lovely.
Sometimes around here the buds get killed during the winter but everyone still has them. It is difficult to resist that shade of blue.
I love hydrangea whichever color but I’ll hand it down to be the blue ones as the most beautiful! Have a nice week!
Wow, that is a most vivid blue, just gorgeous!!! Thank you very much for sharing and have a great week.
I have a friend who carried blue hydrangea blossoms at her wedding. She needs cheering up, so I’ve passed on the link to your blog photo. I think your stunning photo will brighten her day. It did mine.

Beautiful, especially since blue is my favorite color.
This is such a beautiful shot. And thanks for the growing info.
Very pretty blue. I take it it has been helped alosng a little.
Thanks, all for the kind comments.
The blue has been tweaked just the tiniest amount. It was a very fine blue to begin with! I don’t do much saturation, sometimes just adjust the curves a small amount, add a little sharpening so the smaller image still looks sharp when reduced in size, add the copyright line, and bob’s your uncle. I hardly ever crop, either, just a little once in awhile. I’m much too lazy to mess with post-production much. There are so many nice, clean images to use! Thanks for asking!
Wonderful flowers! Marvelous blue also!
Thanks for posting for TODAY’S FLOWERS!
