Flat fountain at McCaw Hall
This fountain near McCaw Hall, home of Pacific Northwest Ballet, is unlike any I have ever seen. The water seeps flatly over smooth pavers into the drain across a very wide expanse. Perhaps people walk barefoot in it during the summer. I’ll have to check back on a warm day!

That is unusual.
Remember those round wood disks that you would throw in the surf at the beach and then jump on to ride across the shallow water’s edge? Looks like it would work great at this “fountain”.
Happy WW!
How fascinating!! What a very cool water feature. Great shot.
Most unusual. I’ve seen wall of water fountains, but never a flat one like that. In Seattle, I suppose it still works even when the water is turned off.
That is amazing, I will definitely have to go check it out. Happy WW from a fellow Seattleite!
That is so amazing….I’d really like to see it.
I have seen something like that I think…somewhere.
It would be nice on a very hot summer day.
No spray? This is something I haven’t seen…the whole concept of the fountain for me would be the spray…why have it if there is no water shooting upward y’wonder.
We went birding last week…today’s post for my blog is all kinds of coastal bird photos. Do take a side trip over to my place if you can find some time to view many waterfowl.
COASTAL BIRDING
Have a super day my friend.
Only out here in the North West would we think of something like this —- beautiful.

Happy out door Wednesday.
Wow! Neat idea.
Very nice image. There is something kind of calming about a rain soaked walk. Happy WW.
Hieno idea! Varmaan rauhoittavakin? [google translate: Great idea! Warm soothing?]
Not every fountain
shoots water into the sky—
some seep quite slowly…
(I’ve sent you a separate e-mail about this post. Hope you like the photo!)

I wish we had something like that here in Phoenix! The dogs’ pads get burned on the pavement in the summers. They have to wear boots! This would feel so refreshing on all kinds of toes, humans’ and others’!
Lovely! And your caption perfectly illustrates the difference between the Northwest and the Southeast. I can tell you that if it were here in Florida we’d be wading in it right now this very minute! I bet people do wade in it when you finally get your summer. I know that in Portlalnd people use the outdoor fountains when it’s hot.
What a fascinating fountain. I would be tempted to walk through it with bare feet!
There’s an almost identical flat fountain at a museum in Amsterdam, but it’s closed off from the public so people can’t walk through it like the one here in Seattle. This one’s accessibility makes it so much nicer!
That is so neat! I’d love to see it in person!
That is different, could be slippery.
That’s different than I have ever seen either. Very cool if you can get your feet wet on those hot days.
Thank you all for visiting and leaving a comment. Now it occurs to me that in heavy rains, perhaps it would disappear? And in freezing weather, you could skate on it??
very nice, clean and clear
What a unique fountain! Going to have to get down to see that one! And great reflections! Hope you have a lovely weekend, Sara, the weather is certainly going to be beautiful, that’s for sure!

I bet that is nice and cooling on the rare hot day in Seattle.
This is a very cool picture. I like the look of all the shapes and lines.
