More fireworks over the lake
It was actually drizzling, but no one seemed to care on Sunday’s Fourth of July, America’s independence celebration. This cloudy, rainy sky got lots and lots of viewers, with the help of enough fireworks to win a small war, it seemed, even though it was not yet really dark. The reflections over little Lake Burien (south of Seattle) were an added bonus. Happy Skywatch Friday! I’m honored to have my photo featured in this week’s edition.
I didn’t use a tripod but learned that a double elbow brace on the arms of a chair can have a very steadying effect. Take a deep breath, let if out, press the shutter slowly. It really helps in those low light situations.
Please feel free to browse around here, trying a new search or two. Returning to the latest post is easy; just click on Sara’s Fave Photos. And visit Scenic Sunday for more scenic views seen everywhere.

This, and the photo at the Skywatch blog, are great, Sarah. The comments aren’t working, over there.
The fireworks over the lake are dazzling. Your shot on the homepage of skywatch is amazing.
Thanks, Jan, for letting me know. It seems that comments on the Skywatch site are OK now, at least it accepted mine and there are a few up. I’ll check back later and see if it posted. Glad you ad Carver like the photos!

Great! and Skywatch shot marvelous as well.
Thank you.
Happy SWF.
Love both your photos this week! Always so nicely chosen. Thanks for making the 4th of July last a bit longer. . .
Sarah, your guest host photo is a ripper! So many wonders to be seen there, the super clear air, those startlingly crisp boats, the reflections, great clouds in the sky and to top it all off, a rainbow as well! Great capture.
your fireworks are no less pleasing either, especially since it is not quite dark. It is nice to see where it is all happening, not just blobs of colour on black.
Marvelous captures as always, Sara! We did indeed have a gray 4th, but look at our skies and the temps today!!!! Happy SWF! Hope you have a terrific weekend!
Sylvia

I love the concept of fireworks over water. I’ve been to a display on a local lake and it is spectacular. I just didn’t have a camera at my disposal. Well done.
Congratulations for being a guest friend today and thank you for sharing a very nice sky photo!
Congratulations! These July reflections are wonderful and the late-day rainbow is an added bonus! You must have been excited to see it. I’ve browsed some of your other photos as well – very creative.
another lovely sky! your skywatch photo on the main page is lovely too. I really like the reflections of the boats.
Lovely firework capture!! Very well shot!!
Pixellicious Photos
Lovely shot! It looks rather misty and ethereal with all the firework smoke, and then the firework itself gives it such a pop… literally.
Beautiful! I love fireworks.

Congrats to your Host photo. The rainbow arch is really flat. Never seen one like that.
Is the weather hot?
Fireworks over water just cannot be beat! This is awesome!
Gorgeous shot!
I’m starting to dig these photo sites…
Yeah, the reflective effect the lake had on the annual light show of firework bliss, really enhances the photographs. You seem to capture a lot of these excellent shots, as having good timing is always a nice photographic attribute to have. Keep up the great work!
