Every time I see photos of bougainvillea, I remember visiting my parents at their winter home in Mexico. My much-younger brother was very young at the time but agreed to take me for a tour around the neighbourhood. When I asked him about the beautiful flowers growing on walls evereywhere, he shrugged his little shoulders and said, “Oh, just plain old bougainvillea!”
The memory always makes me smile.
