Croton plant
My mom used to grow a big hedge of these croton plants in Southern Florida. I’ve tried to grow them as houseplants, without too much success. But this healthy specimen in the Volunteer Park Conservatory was just waiting to show off for the camera. Almost looks like a flower, doesn’t it?

Beautiful – I can imagine how lovely a whole hedge of these must look.
I had one of these…a large one, in my front yard. But the past winter it froze and has not come back to life. Gorgeous photo.
My Macro is HERE. I do hope you can find time to stop for a visit with me today!
My mom have lots of like that flower. Happy MYM!

That’s so interesting that the croton is called San Francisco plant! It certainly doesn’t like to freeze, and once in a while, you do get frosts there.
Thanks everyone for visiting and taking the time to leave a comment. I so love to read them!
Sara
I’ve seen these plants all my life and never knew what they were called. In fact, I think my grandmother had some. Thanks for the memory!
Hi again, Sara…it’s me Hootin’ Anni.
I just read your comment about me posting where I live and regarding the tree that was blooming and I didn’t know what it was named…Under my photo on my sidebar, you’ll have to look for it next time you stop by for a visit….it says I live in the Coastal Texas area with the Gulf of Mexico at my back door.
Hope your day is treating you well.
Great color on the Croton !
Sure looks like a flower.
Here Is one moore that canΒ΄t handle this plant as a houseplant π
Have a nice week !
Lovely photo and a good reminder to get into the city and visit the Conservatory.
That’s a really healthy looking croton! I rather like them. π
Cool close up.
What a colourful plant! I don’t think I’ve seen this plant in real life. The leaves certainly do fan out like flower petals.
Very Nice! I have a similar plant…. π
