Late-blooming dogwood
This was taken just a few minutes before the shot at the overlook below. You can see the dusky skies in the background. Such sweet pink tips on the blooms, no?

I think you captured those blooms at the exact perfect time. Lovely.
Those are unusual dogwood blooms with the pointed petals and the colored tips. I posted a photo of a dogwood blooming in Virginia and it is very different.
Oh how I miss the Dogwoods! A portion of my heart will always belong to the Pacific Northwest. You are so blessed to live there.
lovely flowers!
Sara, we also have late blooming dogwoods that are still in bloom. I haven’t gotten close enough to be sure but I don’t think they are pointed either. Will have to check them out. Thanks for your reply!
Very beautiful white dogwood flowers emphasized by the dramatic, dark setup.
They look so different with the pointed petals.
Thanks for contributing to Macro flowers Saturday with this amazing close-up composition.
Indeed, the link to my painting was not obvious enough but I’ve changed my settings now, if you wish to see it.
Have a great weekend!
Lovely shot, it captures the form of the flower beautifully.
I live in a part of Texas where Dogwood Trees are a rarity…so it is a treat to see your beautiful photo. These blooms are stunning and I’ve never seen the pointed petals before. Great shot for MFS.
I’ve never seen some dogwoods here or I’ve not just looked around and be mindful. Anyway, I love this, it is dainty and signifies purity.
So delicate and lovely. The pink edges give it that extra special touch that makes these flowers even more beautiful. Very artistic style photo and well done.
Gorgeous photo – it is so like our trillium (except it has 3 petals)
Flowering dogwoods like this are not often seen in gardens around here. Its about 70 UK pounds to buy a Cornus tree about 5 feet tall but with just pure white flowers. I love the way the tips of the petals are blushed with a little pink in your photo Sara.
Wow this flower is gorgeous. And yes the tip of the flower is pink and that makes it unique!
Day Lilies
Very different from the dogwood that blooms in the south. Very pretty.
