White flower with crinkled petals
Sorry for all the flower macros, but so much is blooming now! Here’s a flower I don’t recognize. It was 2 or so inches wide (4-7 cm.) blooming on a large hedge near Alki beach (near Seattle) in May, so it’s not Japanese anemone. Perhaps some kind of hibiscus? I love the delicacy of the folds in the petals. Update: It is a Rockrose (cistus laurifolius).

Hi Sara, and welcome to the Reconnect with Nature link up. It’s lovely to have you participate.
Beautiful shot, agree the delicate folds in the petals are really very lovely.
Love the blossoms reaching for the sun and enhancing our environments! Have a great week…http://lauriekazmierczak.com/backstop/
I wouldn’t have been able to help you name the flower but I’m happy you eventually identified it. I, too, love the delicacy in its petals.
Really gorgeous flowers !
Such wonderful shot, very good photo work ..
Greetings, Karin
Those softly crinkled petals are enchanting. I have never seen this flower before. Beautiful photo.
Delightful photo of the flower, it is so pretty, thanks for sharing
This is a Matilla Poppy!
LeAnn, thank you so much! Never seen one before.
I would very like to know what this flower is. There is a hedge of these near my home at a local business, but they’re pink. I have lots of photos they’re very pretty..
I forgot to mention that like the original post, I live in Washington state too. My flowers were found in southwest Washington state. I have looked up Matilja poppies and I’m not sure that is the same flower. It seems like the poppy the poster was talking about is better grown in California and Mexico.
I just identified your flower and mine! It’s called a rock rose. Yours is called cistus laurifloriuos. Goood hunting. My similar flower is in SW Washington.
