Walking the dog in snow

Last week it snowed hard, and people walked their dogs anyway.

January in California

Here’s a little video clip of a January trip to Sonoma County, CA a few years ago. Scenic barn! Live oak! Birdsong!

And a still from the same scene. I wish you a scenic 2020.

Carpet from 1926

This old carpet was laid in 1926 in the Delta Masonic Lodge building in Tukwila, WA. I love this design. Each flower “petal” is maybe a foot across.

Green lasers

The last Lusio illumination art show at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory, was so amazing, lighting all the tropical plants and the 1912 historic building in great washes of color. So many talented light artists.

Illuminated mushrooms light art

At Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory, there have been some fabulous Lusio light art, music and dancing fundraisers, and the last one this year is coming up on Saturday, October 19. Here’s a photo from the one in January. So much fun!

Seattle Marimba Quartet

Such a fine time at the Normandy Park (WA) Cove on Friday. These guys are so talented. Here’s just a bit of one of their pieces.

Here’s a shot of all four of them:

Last of the viaduct in Seattle

Just a few weeks ago the last segments of Seattle’s viaduct were still standing. Now they are no more.

Cabin porch

We spent a few days in this little cabin in the Olympic National Forest. It was built in 1907, and it just so happens we met the granddaughter of the man who built it, a Mr. Finch. In any case, a rainy day on a porch like this is just heaven. Note the yoga mat.

Caffe D’arte in Seattle

A recent beautiful and sunny late-summer Seattle day. Coffee, sunshine, and hanging fuchsia flower baskets! What’s not to like?

Old-world feel to this lovely Seattle street scene. Window arches on both sides of the street!

Driftwood at Elwha beach

Visiting the mouth of the Elwha River in Washington with my family, where the dam removal four years ago has made huge differences to the ecosystem already, we were curious about some  driftwood creations on the beach.

What’s in there?
