Tulips in April

Had to go to the archives for some tulips. They bloom around here (Western Washington) in April. Be sure to visit the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival at least once in your life, if you can. They really do look like this:

Orange rose macro

A dear friend brought some orange roses. Just a bouquet from the store, but still so lovely on my kitchen table, in the soft, spring afternoon light. I love this image and am calling it my weekly Top Shot.

September sunshine

Feeling like summer is pulling me towards it. This was my yard in September.

Orange cosmos

Taking a peek at the other side of the year, this orange cosmos flower bloomed in a friend’s garden in September. I’ve grown them myself, and they are easy from seed. Try some this year!

Hellebore or Lenten Rose

Geraniums indoors

I have a south window in my living room, so I took some geraniums indoors last fall. Why not? Here they are in a sunbreak (that’s a Seattle term) last week, looking out at my backyard.

Reblooming amaryllis

I have an indoor gardening success. Not only did my red amaryllis rebloom, this year it pushed up a second flower (on a much shorter stem) after the first one faded! I was flabbergasted.

Pink pieris

This pink pieris japonica shrub, or andromeda, is growing at my driveway and just coming into bloom. It has a sweet, delicate fragrance. It is also called lily of the valley shrub.
