Yellow brugmansia

Went to fun Oktoberfest at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory and really loved the evening lighting on the blooming, heavenly scented flowers. No wonder they call them Angel’s Trumpets!

Mosaic fence

Here is something you don’t see every day. In the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, a mosaic fence.

Brugmansia flowers

Scrolling through my photo archives, I found this image of huge, tropical brugmansia (Angels Trumpet) flowers from an August 2010 shoot at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory. See how the buds are yellow but the open flowers are pink? Wild, no?

String bean harvest

String beans are such a great garden vegetable. I love them raw and also steamed, just with maybe a little butter and lemon juice. The purple ones turn green when you steam them (!!) and taste the same, but the yellow ones (wax beans) stay yellow and taste quite similar. They all taste great to me!

Orange daylily

In a friend and neighbor’s garden, a late orange daylily, all lit up by the summer sunshine.
