Giant sedum heart

Here is another post about something you just don’t see every day. This giant sedum heart, at least ten or fifteen feet tall (I heard it weighed several tons!), was a big hit in the lobby area of the Northwest Flower & Garden Show. To see several more floral images that I recently posted from last year’s show, just put NWFGS in the search box at right.

Cake slice of plants

At the Northwest Flower & Garden Show there was something you just don’t see every day, a “wedding cake” made entirely of plant material. Isn’t this slice of “cake” adorable? Be sure to scroll down a few photos for several more I posted last week from last year’s show, or just put NWFGS in the search box at right.

Flowers from the NWFGS

The Northwest Flower & Garden Show has ended but the photos of flowers live on. Here are two beauties: a bookcase full of bouquets and a ravishing and exotic protea bloom below. Be sure to scroll down a few photos for several more I posted last week from last year’s show, or just put NWFGS in the search box at right.

Flowers as art

A break from the Florida pictures to bring you something from today’s visit to the Northwest Flower & Garden Show. Isn’t this something?

White hellebore with blush

Hellebores are so welcome in winter. Their simplicity is so lovely, even from the back.

Tulip time

Not until April, but here’s a quick peek at the unbelievably scenic Skagit Valley Tulip Festival north of Seattle, WA. I really love this image and I am calling it my weekly Top Shot.

Brugmansia flowers

Scrolling through my photo archives, I found this image of huge, tropical brugmansia (Angels Trumpet) flowers from an August 2010 shoot at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory. See how the buds are yellow but the open flowers are pink? Wild, no?
