Chive flowers

Chive plants are great. Months of tasty herbs for the kitchen, and pretty flowers, too!

Double lilac macro

Yesterday was the warmest day of the year so far, over 70 degrees F and sunny. And it was my birthday! I celebrated by going outside and smelling the lilacs all blooming.

Spring garden scene

I got a new camera, another little Canon, the PowerShot 120. I don’t know all the features yet, but took it out in my yard. I like it!

Checkered tulip, or fritillaria

These sweet little flowers come up every spring in my garden. Smaller than regular tulips (which they aren’t really), they do have their own charm.

Spring display

Here’s a very springlike display from last year at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory, on the first day of spring. #vpc #springflowers

Giant sedum heart

Here is another post about something you just don’t see every day. This giant sedum heart, at least ten or fifteen feet tall (I heard it weighed several tons!), was a big hit in the lobby area of the Northwest Flower & Garden Show. To see several more floral images that I recently posted from last year’s show, just put NWFGS in the search box at right.

Flowers from the NWFGS

The Northwest Flower & Garden Show has ended but the photos of flowers live on. Here are two beauties: a bookcase full of bouquets and a ravishing and exotic protea bloom below. Be sure to scroll down a few photos for several more I posted last week from last year’s show, or just put NWFGS in the search box at right.
