It’s been awhile since I posted a view from the overlook near my house. This was taken on the numerologically important day of 12-12-12. In all the clouds and rain Seattle has been having since mid-October (after a fabulous summer of sunshine) that day the sun managed to peek out briefly and I was there. Today I went to meet up with a dear friend in Port Orchard, WA (Hi, Marsha!) and she drove me to this scenic pier in Manchester, the next town over. Even in the rain, or maybe especially in the rain, I liked the feeling of being able to walk off into the distance. But it was cold out there!

I was at the open house at the Volunteer Park Conservatory in Seattle on Friday and it was so cool. That model train they have this year is the neatest thing. I’ll do a photo of that later on, but now I just wanted to share a shot of the prettiest, glitteriest, most festive tree I’ve seen in a long time. Wish this was my tree at home!

Walking in my South Seattle neighborhood not too long ago, I came across this perfectly red and shiny Fordomatic truck, obviously labored over and loved. I was glad I took photos of it, because an hour later it was gone. Here are two views. Which one do you like better?

When we went crabbing last month with friends with a boat in the Cap Sante marina in Anacortes, WA, I was entranced by the reflections of the boats on the water in the blessed sunshine. I hope you like this one.

Here’s another image of incredibly scenic Bowman Bay, at dusk. When I see a pink sky, I get such a photo thrill, I can’t tell you. And when that pink sky is over a scenic place, and I have a camera (of course!) and I can take the shot, there is such a deep satisfaction. And the best part is sharing it with you all, dear readers! Even though it’s only Tuesday evening, I love this image and I’m calling it my Best Post of the Week.

This old fort on Whidbey Island in Washington used to watch for Japanese invasion in World War II. You can still see the bunkers and where the big guns were, just in case. Now it’s used for parasailing and the occasional tourist. Wonderful space that made me happy.

This photo gives me such a feeling of peace. I love the quiet at the water’s edge. Bowman Bay is part of Deception Pass State Park, in western Washington. That is Puget Sound you are looking at. May all your days end this peacefully.

On our short little getaway last week, a little visit to Coupeville on Whidbey Island, Washington, was just the thing. Victorian houses with pretty gardens, adorable shops, and scenic boats and sky, not to mention perfect temperatures, made for much happiness. Isn’t this sky just great?

While we were camping at Deception Pass, our friends with a boat invited us to it for a drink. They keep the pretty cabin cruiser docked at the Cap Sante marina in Anacortes, WA, only a few minutes away from where we were. The magic of cellphones! Walking out to their slip, I was just blown away by the beauty of the sun, the water, and the scene. This one, too, is just straight out of the camera. Love those sunny days.
