Sunset window

The sunset in Port Townsend on Friday was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen anywhere. This was the place we were staying in, built in the 1890s.

Rain in the distance

At the waterfront near newly remodeled Ivar’s in Seattle last night, you could see rain falling in the distance at sunset.

Leek flowers

These tall leek blossoms dominate my vegetable garden this time of year. I have no idea why some are white and some are lavender or purple. Bees love them!

Rose and lavender garden

I have a rose garden in front of my house. A few of the roses didn’t do too well so I replaced them with lavender. I’m very happy with the combination.

Sunset over Puget Sound

At the Des Moines, WA marina recently, the sunset was beautiful.

Fallen redwood

My brother is on a motorcycle trip and had his friend take this picture of him in front of a fallen redwood in Northern California. What an image!

Potato bin

I’ve been growing potatoes in a different way, and it is looking like my best potatoes ever. My friend told me how to do it and let me collect bags of dried leaves from under her trees to use. I started with a layer of good dirt and fertilizer (about 6″), put the potatoes just under the surface, watered well, and as they grew kept adding dried leaves, letting some green tops stay uncovered, keeping it well watered, adding more leaves as I could. This bin was started at the very end of April, and look at it today! Below are the flowers from the red potatoes.
