Purple prickly pear

At the Desert Garden in Phoenix, AZ, a new succulent to me, a purple opuntia or prickly pear.

Tiny succulent flowers

This tiny succulent in my flower bed surprised me with flowers. They are no more than a centimeter across. So cute!

Succulent rosettes

On my recent trip to Mexico, I saw some extremely pretty succulents in my sister’s garden. Don’t they look like roses?

Opuntia cactus

So much fun at the Botanical Garden (El Charco del Ingenio Jardin Botanico) in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Here is a close up of a nopal cactus. Spiky!

Flapjacks

I think this is the cutest succulent I ever saw, in Edmonds WA, growing low on the ground, outdoors on a downtown street. With a name tag!

Hatiora (Drunkard’s Dream)

These teensy yellow flowers bloom on my south window every January and February. So welcome! And since they are succulents, they certainly tolerate my forgetting to water them very well. I appreciate that, too.

Turquoise succulent

I don’t know what kind of succulent this is, which was growing in Wallingford, a Seattle neighborhood. It’s not a hen-and-chicks sedum, because it grows on stalks, maybe a foot high. Anyone know what it is? I love the way the rosette centers look like flowers.
