Woodland Park water lily pool

Woodland Park Rose Garden in Seattle is a delightful place. I’ve got to go back there for another visit soon. So many roses, such charming vistas. A delightful way to spend a couple of hours, and it’s free!

Visit Watery Wednesday for more water photos of all kinds, Outdoor Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera shots) and Weekend Reflections for the most intriguing reflections. Try clicking on one of those tags here for more of the same, if you have time. Return to the latest post by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos.

This photo holds up very well for me. I’ve tagged it Best Post of the Week.

Red roses

The roses look good now. The challenges of the awful black spot and mildew that the endless wet weather created are mostly gone. I try to keep the fallen leaves and petals off the ground, so that means deadheading when the blooms start to get loose, before the petals fall. What a wonderful excuse to wander among the roses, clippers and bucket in hand, happily peering into the heart of each rose and gathering the spent ones. A pleasure, not a chore, to me.

Visit Ruby Tuesday for more ruby redness. And click on a new tag or category while you are here, you hear? The latest post can always be found at Sara’s Fave Photos, above.

Water falling on rocks

Here’s another view of that lovely water feature on the garden tour from the weekend. Hope you like it.

Stargazer lily

This lovely lily is probably a ‘Stargazer’ lily, rubrum speciosa, taken on that Federal Way Symphony Garden Tour yesterday. I understand that all lilies like this used to point downwards, and growers managed to develop one whose blooms pointed upwards, thus “star gazer.” Great name, no?

Visit Today’s Flowers for more wonderful blossoms of all kinds, Macro Flowers Saturday and Macro Monday for close ups, Ruby Tuesday for wonderful reds and Color Carnival for brilliant color. Whew!

You might click on the “pink” or “red” tag at left or search for something new as long as you are here. Return to the latest post by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos.

Puget Sound from Port Townsend

It’s been blessedly warmish, maybe 70 (27 C), but sunny, and we love that here in Seattle. Had to go to the archives of the spring trip to Port Townsend to find a water shot I really liked. Isn’t this a great feeling? To me, anyway.

Visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday for more photos on their themes. Great memes, both of them. And try Scenic Sunday, too. You might try clicking on a new tag or category, or even a search (Pt. Townsend, perhaps?) can be fun. Return to the full blog at Sara’s Fave Photos.

Table and chair shadows

The sun was finally, finally out and bright this afternoon, albeit briefly. But I was there with my camera, grabbing shadows left and right. Isn’t the one from the table neat?

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday for more intriguing shadows seen round the world. You can try a Shadows tag here or other search if you like, and can always wind up back at the full blog by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos on top.

Woodland Park Rose Garden

I snuck out of the office yesterday and wandered a bit around the Woodland Park Rose Garden in Seattle. I could have spent hours there. It’s huge, two and a half acres, 280 kinds of roses, all kinds of goodies like a gazebo for weddings, a reflecting pool with water lilies, the works. It’s so much fun to see big beds of ones I recognize. I’ll be sharing a few nice shots I took there, which is one of the best parts of blogging. On with the roses!

Try searching for “rose” or perhaps “tulip” while you’re here. And returning to the latest post is easy: click on Sara’s Fave Photos above. Visit Scenic Sunday for more interesting and beautiful sights around the world and Color Carnival for more great color.

Patio flowers

Yesterday the sun peeked out for a bit and the flowerbed near our patio is at its peak, so here’s a photo for you to enjoy. The pink ones in front are Sweet Williams, a perennial, the blue ones are bachelor buttons which reseeded themselves, the spiky red stuff in back is penstemon, the magenta on silver in back is rose campion, the soft pink in back is astilbe, and the white on the left is a volunteer feverfew, great for bouquets. Visit Today’s Flowers for more flowers all around the world.

Sailboat

A view of Puget Sound from Port Townsend. Wasn’t that a nice sky reflecting in the water? I like this one so much I’ve tagged it Best Post of the Week.

Visit Watery Wednesday, Outdoor Wednesday, Scenic Sunday and Weekend Reflections for more of the same idea.

Something new is the Google Followers gadget on the left. Please tell me if it works OK. I’ve wanted one for awhile but just figured out how to make it happen. Followers rock! Thank you, Marsha Perry of Perry Internet Consulting.

Beach at Fort Worden

When we were in Port Townsend a few weeks ago, the weather was fine and the boats were out. This group might even have been having a regatta of some sort. Of course I loved the sign. Yes! Beach this way!
