Red Japanese maple leaves

I know I’ve posted a few photos of autumn leaves recently, but how can I resist when I see an image like this one? The local (mostly gray) weather makes me run for my camera whenever the sun shines and I can get outside. I took this one yesterday on a little walk near my house. I have never appreciated sunshine like I do now that I live in Seattle, that’s for sure.

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday and SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Scenic Sunday, Blue Monday and Color Carnival for more super photos with a theme.

If you’ve arrived via a permalink and you see only one photo here, you might click on Sara’s Fave Photos for the full blog experience. And do click on a new tag or category, or even a search for something less obvious. You never know what you might find.

This is a very strong favorite of mine. I’m calling it my best post of the week.

Japanese anemone

These simple flowers are welcome in the late summer and fall garden, in the Seattle climate, anyway. They are seen in lavender or white and bloom in shade or sun, and dry seems to be OK. And they come back! I love easy perennials, don’t you? And do you notice the bee working in the background?

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday for more fascinating kinds of shadows, Today’s Flowers for flowers around the world, and Macro Flowers for more flower close ups. Macro Monday and Mellow Yellow Monday rule, too. Let’s try a new meme: Flowers on Saturday!

Boat wake

It was only last month that we went crabbing in our friends’ 28-foot boat in the waters off Anacortes, Washington, but it does seem farther back than that. Summer’s weather was so gray and dismal that the rare blue skies that day were a total thrill. This photo reminds me of the clear air and great watery smell up there. Vrooom!

Visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday, plus Scenic Sunday, Skywatch Friday and Blue Monday, if you’d like to see more neat photos on those themes. There’s also SOOC Sunday for straight-out-of-the-camera shots like this one.

As long as you’re here, you might as well try a tag like “water” to see more of my own photos with water in them. You can always return to the latest post here by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos.

Even though there are several photos I posted this week that I really like, I think the sense of motion and distance in this one makes it my fave for the week. Plus the sunshine and water, of course—so I’m tagging it my Best Post of the Week.

Autumn tree and blue sky

It’s amazing how euphoric a sunny day with blue skies can make me feel. I believe the trees revel in it, also. This fall scene in Wallingford, a neighborhood in Seattle, just makes me happy when I look at it. I hope it makes you feel good, too.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more skies around the world. Scenic Sunday has more great scenery. Blue Monday has more photos with blue in them. Color Carnival has more bright colors. And SOOC has more straight-out-of-the-camera shots.

Browse around here first, if you have time. You might try the “autumn” tag, for starters. And to get to the latest post (if you’ve arrived via a link) do click on Sara’s Fave Photos.

Blueberry fall leaves

These potted blueberry bushes in a friend’s healthy garden are just the cat’s meow when it comes to fall color. Aren’t they incredibly brilliant? Hard to believe that a plant with so fabulous a fruit pleases the eye so much, too.

Visit Ruby Tuesday for more red and Color Carnival for more color of all kinds. And check out SOOC (straight out of the camera) shots for more unedited photos.

While you are here already, you might try a new tag or search term, just to see what’s around. And if you’d like to get to the latest post, just click Sara’s Fave Photos, here or above.

Golf course lake

Nothing like a golf course for scenic vistas, all ready to photograph. I don’t play the game much myself, but I love to tag along if I can with my camera. This was taken in Kent, Washington. Bet there are a lot of golf balls in the bottom of that water!

Visit Skywatch Friday, Weekend Reflections, SOOC (straight out of the camera), Scenic Sunday and Blue Monday for more ideas on a theme. While you’re here, though, please do browse around a bit. You might see what a tag-click of “water” or “reflections” brings up. And you can always get to the latest blog post by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos, here or above.

Apricot roses

Thought you’d like to see some roses from this summer, taken on the Federal Way Garden Tour in July. Seattle may have a lot of cloudy, gray weather, but the summers are glorious.

Visit Flowers for Today for more blooms around the world. It has neat shadows, so I’m entering it in the Shadow Shot Sunday meme, too. It’s straight out of the camera, or SOOC. And you’ll find more brilliant color in Color Carnival.

I totally love the sunlight and shadow on these perfect blooms, so I am tagging this post my Best Post of the Week.

If you’ve arrived via a link or a search, you can find the complete blog at Sara’s Fave Photos, here or above. But try a new tag here, first. Maybe “orange”?

Cedar tree

This huge old cedar tree is what I first loved about this house. It’s actually hard to take a good photo of a tree, especially such a big one. This photo is hot out of the camera, as the weather cleared up nicely this afternoon and I just shot it.

Enjoy more shadows at Shadow Shot Sunday, the Hey Harriet blog. Scenic Sunday has more endlessly varied scenery.

While you’re here, you might try a new tag or search “tree” for other photos you might like. Or the My Garden category? To get to the latest post here, always click on Sara’s Fave Photos, here or above.

Sky and Puget Sound view

Down in Des Moines, WA, visiting the friend with the colorful dishes below, across the street is an amazing view, and what could be better than clouds and water in the bright sun?

Visit Skywatch Friday for more fabulous skies, Blue Monday for all things blue, and Scenic Sunday, too.

Seattle reflections

It’s been cloudy and rainy (but warm), so like a true Seattlite I crave the sunshine. To the archives!

Here’s a shot from the Seneca St. exit of our beloved but soon-to-be-history Viaduct. The best views, even if I always pray for an earthquake not to strike now when I am on it.

Visit Skywatch Friday, Scenic Sunday, SOOC, Window Views and Weekend Reflections for some great photo work. Browse here in a new tag or category as long as you’re here. Try “reflections” or “Seattle” in the search, perhaps. You can always reach the latest post and full blog at Sara’s Fave Photos above.
