Cedar tree

This huge old cedar tree is what I first loved about this house. It’s actually hard to take a good photo of a tree, especially such a big one. This photo is hot out of the camera, as the weather cleared up nicely this afternoon and I just shot it.

Enjoy more shadows at Shadow Shot Sunday, the Hey Harriet blog. Scenic Sunday has more endlessly varied scenery.

Sky and Puget Sound view

Down in Des Moines, WA, visiting the friend with the colorful dishes below, across the street is an amazing view, and what could be better than clouds and water in the bright sun?

Visit Skywatch Friday for more fabulous skies, Blue Monday for all things blue, and Scenic Sunday, too.

Late-blooming dogwood

This was taken just a few minutes before the shot at the overlook below. You can see the dusky skies in the background. Such sweet pink tips on the blooms, no?

Visit Macro Flowers Saturday if you like flower closeups. There are some great ones there! You are welcome to browse around here first, if you like. Returning to the main blog page is easy; just click on Sara’s Fave Photos.

More pink dogwood

We’ve had mostly very gray skies lately, and cool temperatures, but we did have a sunbreak or two and I got to get this photo of our pink dogwood tree.

Visit Today’s Flowers for more flowers seen round the world, Color Carnival for more brilliant color, SOOC for more straight-out-of-the-camera shots, and try Scenic Sunday, too.

Pink dogwood

Our pink dogwood tree is in full bloom. What a lovely sight. I am grateful to the people who planted this tree many years ago. Plant trees whenever you can! If you won’t be there to see it in its full glory, someone else will. And you never know, do you? Time has a way of slipping away so fast.

Visit Macro Flowers Saturday, Pink Saturday and SOOC (straight out of the camera) after your visit here. Click on Sara’s Fave Photos above any time you’d like to return to the latest photo on this blog.

Magnolia moon

I was in the back yard a couple of weeks ago, admiring the magnolia tree in the late afternoon light, when I saw the moon in the sky. Thank goodness I try to keep my camera in my pocket at all times!

Visit Skywatch Friday for more skies seen round the world, and Pink Saturday for more sweet pinkitude of all sorts. And remember, you can always click on Sara’s Fave Photos above to return to the full blog with my latest post on top.

I really like the way the clouds and the magnolia blossoms both seem to dance. I’m calling this one my Best Post of the Week. Hope you agree.

Chair shadows

This quick bit of sunshine we saw last week was the last time I did see the sun, so I’m happy to post the brief reminder here. It’s been gray and rainy, typical for this time of year, but it does get a bit gloomy sometimes. Especially when I want to go out in the garden and get things done. Sigh.

This is a SOOC, or straight-out-of-the-camera shot, like most of mine. Visit Shadow Shot Sunday for more interesting shadows. See more windows (and doors) in Window Views. Visit Blue Monday for more things of all kinds in blue.

Pink tree

This is from my trip to New York City in May, although actually, this photo was taken in Greenwich, Connecticut. Even though the weather was very Seattle-ish, with lots of clouds and sprinkles, the beauty of the Pink Trees never ends for me. I never know if they are cherry trees or what, but I love them.

For more blissful pinkness, visit Pink Saturday.

First flower photo

This is my first flower photo of the new year, and my first with the new camera. How appropriately a bud! It is an amaryllis, and should open to a big showy blossom with a bright red color (‘Red Lion’), very soon. I’ll keep you posted.

For more flowers from around the world, visit Flowers For Today.

I’ve tagged this image as Best Post of the Week.

Red tree

I do not know what this tree is. [Now I’ve learned it’s sorrel tree or Oxydendrum arboreum.] The fall leaves are brilliant red (taken a month ago) but it almost looks like it’s flowering. I also like that the white sky gives it an almost Christmassy look. A rainy walk in the neighborhood can yield wonderful things, if you’re a photo junkie like me. Visit Ruby Tuesday for more visions of red around the planet, Color Carnival for more brilliant colors, and SOOC for more straight-out-of-the-camera shots.
