Big cloud

Can you see the tiny sailboat? And the reflection of the cloud on the water? This big cloud over the inlet at Fort Worden in Port Townsend really “floated my boat,” you might say. Love those puffy huge things that look like you could bounce on them.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more skies from around the world, Weekend Reflections, and Scenic Sunday as well, after trying a new tag or two around here. How about Best Posts of the Week? Return to the full blog at Sara’s Fave Photos.

White rose and ceanothus

I took a walk in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle last week.

This old-fashioned rose with a single row of petals sometimes is prettier than the huge ruffled kind. Below that is ceanothus (see-an-OH-thus), or Wild Lilac in California, or California Lilac up here in Seattle. It also has a sweet scent and can become quite a big shrubby plant, covered in blue in the spring. When I lived in Northern California, it was common and wild, and bloomed with yellow broom on the rolling hills. Pretty nice!

Visit Macro Monday, Mellow Yellow Monday and Blue Monday after wandering about here.

Double Delight rose

This is not in my yard; they’re not quite ready yet at my place. But that same Wallingford garden a couple of shots down seems to be a bit earlier with what’s blooming. And I don’t see any black spot on the leaves, either.

All this rain has been tough on my roses, but the day or so of lovely sunshine coming up tomorrow may get them going. As soon as they look good, I promise some nice photos for you.

Normandy Park view

This overlook is right near my house. I have been complaining about the gray, wet skies, but when I see clouds like this I am content. And besides, as a gardening friend said, it’s great for weeding.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more skies seen round the world, and Scenic Sunday for more amazing scenery. And if you like skies, be sure to scroll down a photo or so and see my post of the Port Townsend beach and sky. It was extra dramatic! Port Townsend beach

A recent trip to Ft. Worden in Port Townsend yielded lots of fun photos and magnificent scenery. How’s this for a view?

Visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday to see more on the theme, or meme. Click here and there around this blog first to see some neat photos you might have missed. Sara’s Fave Photos above will take you back to the latest post and all the photos.

I like this one very much, even a week later (how quickly we move on!) and I’m tagging it Best Post of the Week.

Pink peonies

At the Pike Place Market it’s finally peony season at the fresh flower vendors in the North Arcade. They all grow their own, you know. The peonies in my backyard are remaining tightly closed balls with all the wet and cool weather we’ve been having here in Seattle (and it’s almost summer!), but these beauties are open, to my admiration. Their lush perfection is heaven on a stem, as far as I am concerned.

Visit Pink Saturday and Macro Flowers Saturday, as well as Color Carnival and SOOC (straight out of the camera). And another Pink Saturday participant I’m sure you’ll like is One Perfect Bite. Her recipes and photos both are just fabulous.

Port Townsend boat reflections

When we were in Port Townsend recently, the weather seemed much less solid gray than here in Seattle. The sun actually came out once in awhile, and provided these lovely reflections at the boatyard.

Visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday after you click on a tag or category here. Weekend Reflections should like this one, too. The full blog here can always be found at Sara’s Fave Photos above.

Rhododendrons

Did you know that rhododendron means red roots? Actually, when I was digging near an old one in my garden, I noticed that the roots were bright yellow, but they did have a reddish coating on them.

These perfect rhodies are from a big garden I saw few weeks ago, and it feels like the sunshine has not been here since then, either. But I digress. I just don’t get tired of flowers, and I hope you don’t, either.

After your visit here, do stop by Shadow Shot Sunday for more creative photo penumbras, and Today’s Flowers for, well, you probably guessed it. While browsing around here, you can always get back to the latest post by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos, above.

Tulips, lilacs and irises

This top photo taken at the Pike Place Market flower vendors combined a display of two of my top fave flowers: tulips and lilacs. I am so happy that I planted some lilacs in our front yard and at least I had one bloom to smell as much as I wanted. Next year I’ll have more. But until they get going, I’m always happy to see them for sale, perfuming the air for all who pass by.

The photo under that one is buds of Dutch Iris. Sometimes I love the possibilities of the bud even more than I love the flower blooming.

Visit Mellow Yellow Monday, Color Carnival and Macro Monday. For Blue Monday, there are some blue iris buds peeking through in the bottom photo. Hope that qualifies!

Amazing puffy clouds

The other day the clouds were just wild. I know it’s not safe to snap photos while driving, but sometimes it’s just imperative. I was blown away by the huge, towering forms in the deep blue sky. It looks like it was raining under them, but all was sunny and gorgeous where I was.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more interesting skies from around the planet, and Scenic Sunday for amazing sights of all kinds. Remember, you can always see today’s post by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos above.
