Skywatch Friday: Clouds at Mt. Ranier
I was driving down the hill near my house and almost drove off the road when I saw, looking to the southeast, these clouds above Mt. Ranier. A quick look on the web revealed that these are Lenticular clouds, often mistaken for spaceships. No wonder!

I think I would have been close to driving off the road too w/ a view like that!!! Very Sky Watch Friday!!!
Yes, I can relate, its kinda wierd to be driving around from day to day in the Seattle area during the winter when it is cloudy alot, and then suddenly there’s this giant volcano there, which somehow escaped my consciousness. It’s always a beautiful surprise when it can be seen and appreciated for its beauty and raw power.
I very much enjoyed your beautiful photo. They kinda look like the start of funnel clouds. How lucky to catch that on photo.
Have a great sky watch week.

You’re sure they didn’t take off from Mt. Rainier?!? What a great shot of the mountain as well as the clouds. Such a bright, clear day there too. Nice work.
Happy Weekend!
Those are very cool. I would have had to stop to take a picture, too.
I would have landed in the ditch!Surprising cloud formations, indeed!

Lovely shot, those lenticular clouds have featured on quite a few blogs this week. They were quite unusually spectacular.
