Chinatown lichees, oops, rambutans
We went to Chinatown when I was in New York and it was so fun. I had never seen fresh lichees in their shells, only canned (looking like eyeballs but tasting heavenly) and dried, in rough, thin brown shells. I had no idea in the world they looked like this! Well, actually I thought they were lichees, but no, readers tell me they are rambutans! Here’s a link with the difference.
I’m participating in a new photo meme, Color Carnival. If you like color, and I sure do, check it out!

Cool!
I have never seen or heard of rambutans before!
Next time I’m in Chinatown I will have a look… they’re gorgeous!

Your photos are absolutely gorgeous! You have a real gift. It is one I really appreciate since I am notorious for taking not-so-great pictures myself. It seems I have to take a whole slew of them to get one that’s decent. But yours are absolutely breathtaking. Thanks for sharing your gift 🙂

Thanks, Lynn (my middle name is Lynne!) for the very nice compliments, but why do you assume I don’t take a slew myself? God bless digital cameras, is all I can say.

I’ve eaten fresh lychees purchased in Toronto but I have never seen rambutans. I wonder how they taste. Colourful, for sure!

I think it is almost lychee season, though! At least here in Florida.

Sara, thanks for sharing our info about lychees and rambutan. I am glad to see that others are spreading the word on how yummy they taste. If you ever need photos of the fruits, just let me know. Here is a video of me and some Rambutan Fruit Trees, for those that are interested: http://ow.ly/4DtfX
Let me know how I can help.
Best,
Felipe
