Watery Wednesday Snowscape
This is such an unusual photo that I had to share it today. I took it on my trip to NY from Seattle at the beginning of the month. This view out the airplane window was somewhere in the middle of the country, past the Rockies I think. It looks like a map of itself! I have no idea if the snow was deep or not, but I have never seen the earth look like this from above. I know it’s a stretch from water to snow, but this one is as magical as water, I think.

I always go for a window seat when flying. Your shot is quite stunning, an other-world look. Here’s a snowy one I took of Reno, after just taking off for Seattle… http://renotahoe.about.com/b/2008/12/31/wordless-wednesday-31.htm

You’re absolutely right – that IS magical.
I loved your What-Cake too, such a sweet memory and a great tradition to uphold.

Cool.
It sort of looks like one of those old pen-sketched maps of times past.
Window seats are the best.

I love to look out of the plane’s window and see the earth below. You never know what you’ll see and it always seems magical. I just wish I knew where it was that I was looking at. Great shot! Reminds me of the trip back from Poland flying over what I think was northern Canada and seeing the frozen ocean and breaks in the ice. Fascinating!

I think it’s a perfect WW post …as, after all, snow eventually does become water 🙂
Great shot and magical indeed….

This is a really amazing shot! I don’t think it’s a stretch at all. Snow IS water.

I was actually thinking the same thing as Ms. Toast Burner. Specifically, it brought to my mind the maps of Middle Earth in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.
