Big Creek morning scene
Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Mt. Rainier in western Washington includes at least one fairly primitive campground and a wide creek. I love the sound of plashing water I heard there, rushing round the creek rocks. Morning light and captured promise of a warm day makes the image below one of my very top faves.
Visit Watery Wednesday for other images of water of all kinds.
Love nature! Splendid capture 😉
Happy WW!
I feel cooler just looking at that lovely picture. It’s been hot and dry in Reno – we need rain real bad.
That’s a very rocky creek. Makes me wonder if the water level is low orr a road is flooded. Things are so whacky these days, ya never know if an area is subject to a drought or a flood.
Just beautifuuuul!!
happy WW!

A lovely morning scene.
What a lovely place to visit! Beautiful shot!
Gorgeous world and no civilisation in sight! Love it!
I can hear that water! Very nice.
I could spend some time here for sure. Very nicely captured.
You’re right! This is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Ah … lovely watery view ;–)
As much as I enjoy living near the ocean in So Cal, occasionally I miss the mountains. Looking at this serene view brings back delightful memories.
Hugs and blessings,
Wonderful river, the current must be strong at times to wash all those rocks down to the river.
What you have here is the power of backlight. Shooting into the sun is almost always going to give you a more dramatic photo, and you’ve got that nice dark area of the rocks in the foreground to lead your eye into the light. It’s useful, when you have a photograph that you really respond to, to start pulling it apart and figure out why it works.
It looks peaceful but I see no trail? Did you find this accidentally? Enjoy!
see mine here please

Great shot, Sara. It’s so peaceful that, if you don’t mind, I’m going to use it as “wallpaper” on my computer desktop.
Oops, I see that you request that the photo not be copied. Well, it WOULD have made great computer wallpaper! 🙂
Thanks all for your comments. Big Creek is near Mt. Rainier, so perhaps an eruption formed it many years ago. It’s been pretty stable for years, as far as I know. It is very near a campground, so access was easy. In fact, we slept to its sound, which was heaven. I know that morning and evening light is usually the finest time for nature photography, and was true here for sure.
This looks like it would be an awesome place to visit!
Beautiful!
awesome! I love your flower shots too.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
