Doll's Eyes
I’ve been saving these photos since I took them in September at a local garden because I knew I wanted to show them at Christmastime. The common name is Doll’s Eyes, and the real name is Actaea pachypoda plant. I just think they are so cool. Of course, any white berry is probably poisonous, so don’t plant them around kids, but I just love them, and especially their highly descriptive name. Happy Holiday to you, and happy Ruby Tuesday also.

Those a fantastic! Exactly like the ‘googly’ eyes that are used in crafts. That’s the sort of plant that makes me just want to put one in my garden – anywhere at all.

Awesome photo. It does have the Christmas look. Just think, doll’s eyes for Christmas. It does go together well. Thanks for sharing.
P.S. I came to this post from you main blog. My first two attempts, the link on Ruby Tuesday took me to last Friday’s Sky Watch. I did it twice to see if it was my cache. Good luck in getting it fixed.

Sorry to any Ruby Tuesday folks who were pointed to an old post. I entered again with the correct link. Thanks, Ivon, for letting me know, and of course thank you for visiting and commenting.

That plant is a trip. Only in the rain forest…

Believe it or not, Seattle gets the same amount of rain as New York City and is NOT in the rain forest. The rain forest is much further out on the Olympic Peninsula. Between that and Seattle are the Olympic Mountains, and most of the moisture falls on their western slopes. We are east of that, so are in the “rain shadow.” It’s a total myth that Seattle gets a ton of rain. What no one says, but is the unfortunate truth, is that Seattle is extremely CLOUDY and pretty darn dismal about 10 months of the year. So now you know.

Well, those houses certainly do it up for the holidays! Great night shots, Sara! And I’ve never seen those flowers before – what an unfortunate name – dolls’ eyes! ๐
