Bromeliad with red center
My mom used to grow all kinds of bromeliads in South Florida where she lived for many years. She said they like to be watered only from the top and collect water in their centers. You know that the center brilliance is not really a flower, but it sure looks like one, doesn’t it? Here’s one from the Volunteer Park Conservatory that you might enjoy.

Wow, lovely bloom.
It is almost rainy season here and that is one of the plants that needs to be emptied with water in the leaves because mosquitoes breed in the water 🙁
Is this taken from outdoor landscaping or as an indoor plant at the conservatory….ya, I know they’re not actually blossoms
My Ruby Tuesday is RED ROSES for a Blue Gent!! I do hope you can drop in for a visit; if you have the time.
No way a plant like this could live outside the conservatory in this climate! Indoors only. And yes, I know they are not technically flowers. But so pretty anyway, don’t you think?
Excellent capture. The subject is perfect for a Ruby Tuesday post. Have a wonderful RT.
Very beautiful bromeliad! Excellent photo for Ruby Tuesday!
I had to come visit, since you’re a Seattleite and I live in nearby Gig Harbor. I haven’t been to the conservatory at Volunteer Park for years. It’s time for a visit. Did you know Tacoma has a pretty conservatory at Wright Park near downtown?
I have been to that conservatory, but like you, it’s been years. I have to go back and check it out! Thanks for reminding me.
Bromeliad has a vibrant color. But just be careful you can be prick with that tiny thorns ^_^ Happy Tuesday!

Very pretty…happy SOOC Sunday.
A striking colour and sharply defined shape!
I actually have this bromeliad and its called nidularium rutilans. Its one of the cold hardier bromeliads, and can be grown outdoors in zone 9a here in Northern Florida. Nice picture!
