'Elizabeth' dahlia
Last week at the Pike Place Market there were about a zillion kinds of dahlias, along with truckloads of armfuls of sunflowers and even some late oriental lilies perfuming up the place, all grown locally by the vendors. What a show. I now have a new favorite dahlia, called ‘Elizabeth’. To me it’s just the prettiest thing. I think those are white asters along with the dahlias.

These are so pretty! Love that gorgeous soft color.
Dahlias are just so full and perfect in their petals and coloring. What a gorgeous shot.
Oh wow this kind of Dahlia is just gorgeous! I wonder if you knew how to keep Dahlias when it’s winter time?
Macro Flowers
Thanks for bringing that up, Manang Kim. Dahlias hate soggy and wet even more than freezing. I have some under the eaves of my house that always come back, but the others all died in last year’s wet winter. So your best bet is to dig them up and store them in peat moss, maybe, over the winter and then replant.
When the shoots first emerge in the spring, slugs love them and you have to make sure they are protected. I use a little cheap foreign beer (if the rain dilutes it, it’s OK) in tunafish cans. The slugs crawl in and die a happy death.
These Dahlias are a really pretty color. Nice composition!
Very beautiful, Sara! The shading on the blossoms is fabulous!
The dahlia is perfect. Happy Pink Saturday, Char
These white Dahlias are gorgeous. What an amazing setup and great angle with the Dahlias in diagonal.
Beautiful work Sara!
