Autumn leaf
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a leaf with colors like this. Some kind of maple, for sure. I took this in the open shade, on a sunny day right after a lot of rain, so the wet road is actually reflecting the blue sky above it. Believe it or not, the color is totally accurate, or SOOC (straight out of the camera).

You mentioned you went to Suny Stony Brook. Small world…I LIVE in Stony Brook and the campus is right in my back yard. Literally…a 50 yard walk in the woods from my back gate to campus. The lake I photographed about a half hour west of here and down near the south shore. I have a photography friend here on the island and we are constantly looking for new places to explore. We just found Belmont lake recently.
