Live oak tree and barn
I took a photo of this same scene many years ago, taken against a dramatic sky in March, as I remember, but here it is again, taken last week in January. It was great to find the exact spot and I was happy that the sun peeked out for a bit of shadow on the barn wall for me. This huge old live oak tree, certainly over 100 years old, is in Sebastopol, California, out on Sanford Avenue. This photo is one of my very top faves, so I’m putting it in my Best Posts of the Week category.
Visit Scenic Sunday and Shadow Sunday for more intriguing photos, and SOOC for more with no tweaking, or straight out of the camera. And browse around here and at Free Photos for some pretty pictures if you have a moment.

I can see why this is one of your faves! Stunning Sara! I loved the one you had taken years before also. The grey sky, rusty red roof and that vibrant green grass is a magic combination! I hope you have a great week ahead 🙂

According to Texas Legend we have the oldest living live oak….just miles from my home.
I love the shadow cast on the barn. Beautiful.

A GREAT HIDING PLACE
A barn in the shade of an oak—
A great hiding place (it’s no joke);
So play hide-and-seek
All day or all week—
Pray tell, who will find you, dear bloke?

Beautiful shot. I love taking old buildings next to trees. The two subjects compliment each other so well.

I love it! I really love it, the trees and it’s shadow that covers almost half of the barn and I love to go there and smell the serenity and enjoy the quiet.

The old lady has grown old and knobby. Once I had an old oak tree; I made a tree house for my kids.
