Live oak tree and barn
I took a photo of this same scene many years ago, taken against a dramatic sky in March, as I remember, but here it is again, taken last week in January. It was great to find the exact spot and I was happy that the sun peeked out for a bit of shadow on the barn wall for me. This huge old live oak tree, certainly over 100 years old, is in Sebastopol, California, out on Sanford Avenue. This photo is one of my very top faves, so I’m putting it in my Best Posts of the Week category.
Visit Scenic Sunday and Shadow Sunday for more intriguing photos, and SOOC for more with no tweaking, or straight out of the camera. And browse around here and at Free Photos for some pretty pictures if you have a moment.
Beautiful oak tree and I love those shadows on the barn
What a wonderful photo… would make a beautiful painting… I love the huge old oak beside the barn.
I can see why this is one of your faves! Stunning Sara! I loved the one you had taken years before also. The grey sky, rusty red roof and that vibrant green grass is a magic combination! I hope you have a great week ahead 🙂
According to Texas Legend we have the oldest living live oak….just miles from my home.
I love the shadow cast on the barn. Beautiful.

A GREAT HIDING PLACE
A barn in the shade of an oak—
A great hiding place (it’s no joke);
So play hide-and-seek
All day or all week—
Pray tell, who will find you, dear bloke?

Shadowy Opening
Great shot…I just love the live oaks in the south. What stories they could tell!
Great shot. Oak trees are a great subject, my neighborhood is called California Oaks.
Hubby always like oak trees. He wants to plant some in our farm. Happy SOOC Sunday.

That’s lovely! It looks like a painting.
Such gorgeous image. Happy Sunday!

Beautiful shot. I love taking old buildings next to trees. The two subjects compliment each other so well.
i love this – it reminds me so much of back home. it’s like the internet knows i’m going back to visit my parents in a month, back in the middle of nowhere in rural texas, and i keep getting reminded of all the familiar things i miss. love love love!
What a magnificent tree…such an elegant shadow it casts!
I love it! I really love it, the trees and it’s shadow that covers almost half of the barn and I love to go there and smell the serenity and enjoy the quiet.
The old lady has grown old and knobby. Once I had an old oak tree; I made a tree house for my kids.
Oh this turned out so beautifully! I am so glad that the sun behaved itself and peeked out for you to take this!
Stunning photograph!
