Pieris or andromeda driveway
Wouldn’t you like to pick up your mail by walking on this driveway every day? I surely do love sunny days and the shadows that result. The pink shrub at the entrance is a real scene-stealer. This sentinel is pieris or andromeda, very popular here in the Pacific Northwest. I read that our soils are acidic and that’s why plants such as rhododendrons and azaleas (and pieris) tend to do so well. Who knew?
Visit Shadow Shot Sunday and Pink Saturday on this long weekend. Also try Scenic Sunday, Outdoor Wednesday and SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera) if you have a minute. Remember, if there is only one photo below, click on the Sara’s Fave Photos banner above to see the rest of the collection.
This photo makes me want to keep looking at it, so I’m calling it my Best Post of the Week.

I’d be checking on the mail several times a day, just for the privilege of walking down this shady driveway!
I ALMOST LOST MY SHADOW
I almost lost my shadow,
I left it in the park;
I heard my mommy calling,
For it was getting dark;
She has no use for shadows,
She thinks they are quite grim,
And when she saw my shadow,
She thought it was a “him.”
I had to educate her
And tell her it was “she’
And now my faithful shadow
Is welcome as can be!

Oh this looks so enticing. To find out whats at the end of the road! I’ve always dreamed of owning property like this. The pink leaves are so gorgeous.

I love this shot. It is a wonderful place. I travel to the Northwest often, usually a couple of times per year. (I used to have a place on Humboldt Bay). I love the plants and flowers and the farmers markets are so full, especially in September! Good stuff!
Peace

I cannot wait until the mail arrives each day. I have enjoyed going to the mail box all my life. I hate holidays when no mail is delivered. I certainly do not have the beauty you have to enjoy going to get the mail.

Catherine, this is a neighbor’s place I found on a walk in my Normandy Park, WA neighborhood. I only wish it were mine!
