Chinese lantern flowers
I visited my favorite Seattle florist, Trudy’s Floral Design, this afternoon. I love that Trudy grows some of her flowers in her own garden. It was so great to see beautiful and unusual flowers close up again. Since the full-year project of visiting the Volunteer Park Conservatory each month last year to take photos for my book, I have been missing masses of beautiful flowers. I’ll have to do something about that.
NEWS FLASH: I’ll be signing books at Trudy’s Floral Design at her holiday Open House on Thursday, November 10, from 2:30 to 6:30. Please drop by and enjoy her lovely flowers, special decorations, a tree and poinsettias, plus goodies!
Take a look at Color Carnival, Macro Monday, Macro Friday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Macro Flowers Saturday, Today’s Flowers, and Weekend Flowers. And if you’ve arrived via a link, be sure to click on Sara’s Fave Photos to see the entire blog.
This is beautiful. I love the colors, too, in the photo. What is the name of this flower?
Paz, all I know is that it’s called Chinese Lanterns. Not even sure whether they grow around here or are tropical. The bouquet was in a nursery. Aren’t they unusual?

What delicate beauties!
so beautiful colors! 🙂
thanks for joining weekend flowers with this lovely pics 🙂
I have seen these flowers, but I cannot put a name in them.
Regarding your comment on Hot Creek, the first time we visited was in 2009, and we saw the sign that swimming is prohibited. I guess it was too hot (scalding). Although half way between Bishop and Mammoth there is Keough Hot Springs and its the real thing, though we did not take a dip.
Thanks for the visit.
so gorgeous! love the colors and DoF.
These are such showy fruits and they stay so all winter, when dried.
I have a few of them in a flower arrangement from last autumn and they are still beautiful.
Beautiful shot with both, red and green fruits.
I love that you had the orange leave as a backdrop. Very nice
a beautiful photo; love the Chinese Lanterns; I have a yellow/red one.
These are a very unique plant…love their shape! Nice shot!
Very unique flowers.
These are among the coolest shaped flowers.
