Football lily
Football lily, or Haemanthus multiflorus, is a new flower for me. I found this in the Wave Hill conservatory, on my recent visit to New York City. I am including the second photo so you can see the fascinating green starburst, spiky bud form as well. The flowers were almost as big as my hand!

I had never heard of a football lily until now, but I surely would love to have one if it would survive in VA. At first I was thinking that it looked a bit like a cactus, but now I have decided not. It certainly is a beautiful plane. genie
Great pictures from beautiful flowers, never seen that before.
Do you cut the flower off after it blooms? I have one, and it has finished blooming, not sure what to do. Thanks
