Table and chair shadows two ways

The other day it was sunny and the local Starbucks’ outdoor furniture looked like music to me, somehow.

And here it is in black and white. Which do you prefer? I’m undecided here.

Scenic view of Puget Sound

The fog was lifting, slowly, at the scenic overlook very near my house.

Lily and mum bouquet

Another black and white photo. This can get addictive.

Winter shadow scene

It’s hard to know what to call a scene like this. It’s just dried hydrangea blossoms on the bush, caught in some wonderful light on Christmas Day. I thought it looked good in black and white since the colors were kind of dull. Do you like it?

Peony in black and white

Peonies always enchant me with their sense of veiled promise, and that perfume. Here’s a macro view of one for my fans of monochrome images:

Cosmos in black and white

The scenic clouds-and-water post below got me thinking about black and white images. Here’s a version of the cosmos flower post below that, in black and white. What do you think? Color, or black and white, for most attractive impact? Which would look best on the wall?

Puget Sound and sky

I rarely post black and white images, but for this shot of Puget Sound from Redondo, WA, I will make an exception.

Birds roosting

It’s getting dark pretty early these days, and these crows were hunkering down for the night against a cloudy sky with rain on the way. You’d think this was old black-and-white film!

Raindrops on my window

Sitting in a car, waiting for a few minutes for the rain to stop, I snapped this photo. Isn’t it funny the way a color image can look totally black and white?

Birds on pilings

I would have called them pier supports, but I am told they are called pilings. They look more like chromosomes to me, actually! This was taken at Dyes Inlet in Silverdale, Washington, in February. I just wanted to look at some water that was not rain or drizzle. Isn’t it cool that this is a color image?
