Pagoda at Pt. Defiance Park

There’s a lovely Japanese garden at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA. In the pond is a brilliantly red (miniature) pagoda.

Volunteer Park Conservatory

Visited my favorite Seattle haunt, the Volunteer Park Conservatory last week. You can see that restoration work is progressing on the Seasonal House on the right. Full project is due to be done in December. Aren’t the outdoor plantings lovely?

Seattle from Alki

The weather was quite cool and damp at the Alki Art Fair this weekend, but Seattleites are a hardy bunch and many came out to stroll and shop. Even gray skies can be scenic!

Red chairs

This row of orange-red metal chairs was casting shadows at the Sculpture Park in Seattle. A fine temporary sculpture right here!

Backyard playhouse with flowers

Here’s another shot of my nextdoor neighbor’s playhouse, with the rhododendrons in bloom. The little girl who lives there is almost two, and is soon to have a baby brother. What a storybook come to life!

Knitted bike rack

We have some artistic knitters in Burien, Washington. This yarn-covered bike rack (and more, not shown) is what some creative person or persons did to decorate the bike rack at the Burien Community Center recently. Stuff like this really floats my boat.

Burien clock

The little city of Burien, Washington, has a very sculptural clock. Here it is as it looked on Art Walk the other evening, in extremely fine weather. See the crescent moon in the sky, adding to the ambiance?

More sculpture than clock, Burien is lucky to have this special timepiece.

Kid self portraits

Burien, Washington is a small city west of SeaTac Airport. Once a month they do an art walk in Olde Burien. This appears to be self-portraits by some local students. I love these paintings. I hope the artists don’t mind this post!

Beautifully thought out and executed, young Burien-area artists show their own faces to the world at Art Walk
