Lemon yellow dahlias

I recently gave away some extra garden plants I had, and a neighbor who picked some up brought a bouquet of dahlias from her garden as a thank you. I have heard of dahlias called dinner-plate size, but thought that was poetic license. This is for real. Here is her bouquet on my kitchen table, with a regular box of tissues there for scale.

Purple hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are so beautiful, all summer long and maybe even more so in the fall as their colors change and intensify.

Bouquet of cosmos and dahlias

The cosmos reseed most years and the dahlias come back, too. Lucky me!

Orange dahlia

This spiky dahlia is almost prettier from the back. So vigorous and healthy!

Pink anthurium

These shiny tropical flowers, really bracts, are so pretty and much easier to photograph than matte flowers. Anthuriums are also called “sweetheart flowers” and “little boy flowers.” Must be the heart shape, right?

Yellow brugmansia

Went to fun Oktoberfest at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory and really loved the evening lighting on the blooming, heavenly scented flowers. No wonder they call them Angel’s Trumpets!
