Normandy Park overlook at dusk

Here is Mt. Rainier and the moon at dusk, a longer shot than the one I posted of this scene a few weeks ago. That’s quite an overlook of Puget Sound, but it’s just a neat view from a road near my house.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more skies of all sorts seen everywhere, and Scenic Sunday, too. The Internet is an amazing thing for a world-wide perspective, isn’t it?

While you’re here, you might as well check out something new. Try “Mt. Rainier” in the search field, perhaps. And you can always find your way back to the latest post by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos, above.

Sunset

I love having my little Canon S90 camera with me always. I was in the parking lot at the local Trader Joe’s and we were finally having a sunset worth of the name. So here it is, for you to enjoy.

Visit Skywatch Friday for other amazing skies seen round the world, and Scenic Sunday for more visions of the outer world. And how about Color Carnival for more brilliant color?

Maybe it’s just me but I like this sunset very much. It seems like a fitting end to a fairy tale or old movie or something. I’m going to call it my Best Post of the Week.

Sunset view of Puget Sound

Here is a view of Puget Sound from Shoreline, a bit north of Seattle, on a recent heavenly and warm day. A perfect end to a perfect day.

Visit Skywatch Friday for skies seen round the world. I think today is an important anniversary there, too, so there may be something special afoot. This is also a post for Scenic Sunday.

You might try “sunset” in the search field, or try clicking on the “scenic” tag. You never know what you’ll find! Return to the latest post by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos, above.

Puget Sound from Port Townsend

It’s been blessedly warmish, maybe 70 (27 C), but sunny, and we love that here in Seattle. Had to go to the archives of the spring trip to Port Townsend to find a water shot I really liked. Isn’t this a great feeling? To me, anyway.

Visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday for more photos on their themes. Great memes, both of them. And try Scenic Sunday, too. You might try clicking on a new tag or category, or even a search (Pt. Townsend, perhaps?) can be fun. Return to the full blog at Sara’s Fave Photos.

More fireworks over the lake

It was actually drizzling, but no one seemed to care on Sunday’s Fourth of July, America’s independence celebration. This cloudy, rainy sky got lots and lots of viewers, with the help of enough fireworks to win a small war, it seemed, even though it was not yet really dark. The reflections over little Lake Burien (south of Seattle) were an added bonus. Happy Skywatch Friday! I’m honored to have my photo featured in this week’s edition.

I didn’t use a tripod but learned that a double elbow brace on the arms of a chair can have a very steadying effect. Take a deep breath, let if out, press the shutter slowly. It really helps in those low light situations.

Please feel free to browse around here, trying a new search or two. Returning to the latest post is easy; just click on Sara’s Fave Photos. And visit Scenic Sunday for more scenic views seen everywhere.

Dusk at Normandy Park overlook

Dusk is my favorite time of day. I’m not usually up at dawn, so late in the day is my chance to see the fading light and softly glowing sky I love so much. This Normandy Park overlook of Puget Sound (which is a short walk from my house) even has some late-blooming dogwood gracing the view.

Mt. Rainier with moon

Yesterday the moon was almost full, but The Mountain (Mt. Rainier, our local active volcano due to blow any time) was out along with it, much more special. Let’s hope the perfect weather of mid 70s holds for a bit. The garden really needs it.

Visit Skywatch Friday for photos of skies seen round the world, and Scenic Sunday for scenic wonders.

I hope you will try out my new Followers gadget on the left. It’s small but I think it works. And be sure to click on a new tag or category each time you visit. You might be surprised at what you will find. Return to the full blog, always, by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos above.

Sailboat

A view of Puget Sound from Port Townsend. Wasn’t that a nice sky reflecting in the water? I like this one so much I’ve tagged it Best Post of the Week.

Visit Watery Wednesday, Outdoor Wednesday, Scenic Sunday and Weekend Reflections for more of the same idea.

Something new is the Google Followers gadget on the left. Please tell me if it works OK. I’ve wanted one for awhile but just figured out how to make it happen. Followers rock! Thank you, Marsha Perry of Perry Internet Consulting.

Big cloud

Can you see the tiny sailboat? And the reflection of the cloud on the water? This big cloud over the inlet at Fort Worden in Port Townsend really “floated my boat,” you might say. Love those puffy huge things that look like you could bounce on them.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more skies from around the world, Weekend Reflections, and Scenic Sunday as well, after trying a new tag or two around here. How about Best Posts of the Week? Return to the full blog at Sara’s Fave Photos.

Beach at Fort Worden

When we were in Port Townsend a few weeks ago, the weather was fine and the boats were out. This group might even have been having a regatta of some sort. Of course I loved the sign. Yes! Beach this way!
