Behind the Conservatory

I do post a lot of photos about Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory, but here is a view that few are lucky enough to see. This glass structure is one of the support production greenhouses, seen on a sunny, early-fall afternoon last week. Volunteering has its perks!

Interlaken grapes

Our backyard grape vine is doing pretty well this year. We might get ten bunches! The raccoons decimated the plums but haven’t taken all of these (yet). So sweet and delicious. If you can, plant a grapevine.

Perennial sunflower

A friend gave me a start of this perennial sunflower plant last spring. It flowers in September: YAY!

Rose bouquet

Rain is predicted, so I went out and cut some roses.

I’m posting a second photo of this same bouquet from a different angle. Which do you prefer?

This is in honor of the 25,000th comment received on this blog, on the Cherry Tomatoes post below (thank you, Magical Mystery Teacher!). Every single comment I have ever received here has been kind and positive. What a fine group of people are photo-blog visitors!

Here’s a tropical plant you don’t see that much, courtesy the fabulous collection at the Volunteer Park Conservatory in Seattle, WA.

Peruvian lily macro

Someone gave me a truly marvelous bouquet of alstroemeria, or Peruvian lily. I have no idea where she got such magnificent ones. This image is a real fave of mine, straight out of the camera…See above for a photo of the whole bouquet.

Flowers at the front door

My friend Cindy is quite a gardener. Here is her front entryway.
