Sundowner rose

The roses in my front yard rosebed are looking phenomenal. I think they like the hazy (smoky!) sunshine we have had for the past few days. The lack of rain is making them that much more fragrant.

String beans, three colors

I love string beans. They were my mom’s favorite vegetable, too. So fun to pick from the garden. Side note: When you cook the purple ones, they turn regular green and taste just like the green ones.

Purple, regular and yellow wax beans begin their summer abundance.

Our flag

She’s a little tattered, but she’s up there, and we love her, above all others. Happy Fourth of July!

‘Julia Child’ rose

Oh the joy, two new rosebushes for an anniversary gift. This beauty is ‘Julia Child,’ named in homage to the queen of butter.

Butter yellow rose, as it should be, named after American icon Julia Child. And sweetly fragrant as well.

Snowfire rose

The roses are getting started very nicely.

Black petunias

I’d heard about these black petunias and finally saw them in person. Truly black, surprisingly pretty, almost iridescent. I believe they call the variety Black Mamba.
