I happened upon a wonderful community event this evening, the Burien Arts-A-Glow Lantern Festival, and was enchanted at the various light sculpture installations in the little park. This one had three groups of lit-up pillars a few inches wide and maybe 10 or 12 feet tall. Loved it.

In honor of the fantastical Burning Man event held in the Nevada desert at this time every year and just ended, here’s a photo I took when I was there in ’07. The statues in the lower left are several stories high. Enormous and mind-boggling doesn’t begin to describe the entire event.

We have some artistic knitters in Burien, Washington. This yarn-covered bike rack (and more, not shown) is what some creative person or persons did to decorate the bike rack at the Burien Community Center recently. Stuff like this really floats my boat.

Burien, Washington is a small city west of SeaTac Airport. Once a month they do an art walk in Olde Burien. This appears to be self-portraits by some local students. I love these paintings. I hope the artists don’t mind this post!

This large peacock window over the entrance to Seattle’s beloved Volunteer Park Conservatory on Capitol Hill is the original window, and over one hundred years old. It is beautiful on sunny days and on gray and rainy ones as well.

Went to a meeting last night and look at what was there! We were surprised to find that the hearts on top were rings, not candy. For very small fingers.

Valentine’s Day treats of rings over iced brownie mini-cupcakes. Yum!

Went to see the fabulous “Sleeping Beauty” ballet at McCaw Hall in Seattle (see it!!) and two costumes for the upcoming “Midsummer Night’s Dream” were displayed in the lobby. I want these wings!
