View from the fishing pier

Puget Sound views can be glorious, and sunshine really helps. I heard that we have had rain on 36 of the last 40 days (and those four were probably cloudy), and continuing showers and rain in the forecast. But Friday had a bit of sun, and I was lucky enough to get out to the Des Moines, Washington fishing pier for this euphoric view.

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday, Scenic Sunday, Blue Monday, Outdoor Wednesday, and Watery Wednesday for more intriguing works. Remember, the banner above with Sara’s Fave Photos brings you to the full blog here.

Sunny beach view

The last sunny day we had around here, at least one I have photos from, was March 19. Three weeks! It a view looking north at the Cove beach at Normandy Park, WA, in the Pacific Northwest, in the “convergence zone.” Today they do predict sunny weather, but it’s solid clouds as I write this. Sigh. It’s true yesterday we did have a sunbreak, and I finally got to take a few photos of the bulbs flowering in the yard (which I will show shortly), but how can you enjoy them if it’s cold and cloudy all the time?

Enough complaining. That’s what photos are for, to transport us to another time and place. Check out Skywatch Friday for more skies of all kinds around the planet, Blue Monday, Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, and SOOC Sunday for more photos with a theme. Puget Sound in sunshine

When the sun shines, you are supposed to make hay, or in my case, take photos. The other day was such blessed sunshine (has to last us for weeks, sometimes!) that I’m still sharing the photos I took that day. Isn’t this vast, sunny view of Puget Sound energizing and peaceful at the same time?

Visit Skywatch Friday for more beautiful skies around the world. Share one of your own if you like; it’s even more fun that way. Scenic Sunday and Blue Monday are very good, too. Check out Free Photos next door to see what’s new, and do click on Sara’s Fave Photos if you see only one image below.

Longboarder on Puget Sound

Saturday at Normandy Park Cove beach (south of Seattle) we enjoyed the sun and mild temperatures, watching this young woman on a longboard and her dog paddle by. Don’t the reflections of the sun look like little stars?

Visit Watery Wednesday, Outdoor Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, Blue Monday, SOOC Sunday, Weekend Reflections, Camera Critters AND Wordless Wednesday, if you have a moment to see some really neat photos out there. Fishing pier

A neighborhood fishing pier in Des Moines, Washington, out over the waters of Puget Sound. Since it’s been raining and wintry for it feels like months and months unendingly, I thought I’d go to the archives for a sunny day to cheer us up here in the Pacific Northwest. I like it here but sometimes the weather really gets to me. I want to go outside and garden! This photo is my Best Post of the Week.

Visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday for photos with a theme, as well as Blue Monday, Wordless Wednesday, Weekend Reflections, Shadow Shot Sunday, Skywatch Friday and Scenic Sunday. I love photo memes; can you tell? If there is only one photo below, click on Sara’s Fave Photos for others.

Water upwelling

This was taken a few weeks ago at an indoor fountain in the Seattle Design Center, south of downtown. My first visit, and what a great space it is! Lots of interior-design related offerings like furniture and art. Huge and skylit. I loved it.

The theme for Thursday Challenge this week is Movement. I thought this was appropriate. It’s a lovely Rorschach test, too. What do YOU see? I see a dog jumping towards me. And I like the sort of mysterious lighting from underneath.

Spring Lake, California scenic view

That brief trip to Northern California last month is still yielding some neat images. Who doesn’t like reflections on a still lake in the sunshine? Spring Lake is in Santa Rosa, California, about an hour north of San Francisco. Seems like it was roughly the same hiking distance around as Green Lake in Seattle, about an hour or so. I love being outdoors near water!

Take a look at Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, Blue Monday and Weekend Reflections for more interesting images on a theme. And if you like scenic landscape photos, there are a number of new ones taken in Arizona on Free Photos that you might check out.

Bare branches at Spring Lake, CA

Even bare branches can look good when there’s water, sunshine, and reflections involved. This January view of the lake in Spring Lake Park in Santa Rosa, California, was something that will look quite different in just a few months.

Visit Watery Wednesday, Outdoor Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, Weekend Reflections, Blue Monday and SOOC (straight out of the camera) for some more interesting photos. And you might try a tag like “reflections” or hop over to Free Photos for even more scenic and flower photos. All free for personal use!

I’ve decided I like the almost lace-like texture of the black branches very much and am naming this post my Best Post of the Week. If you see only the one photo below, do click on Sara’s Fave Photos for the rest of them.

Spring Lake, California, reflections

What a blessing is a sunny day in Northern California. Spring Lake Park is in Santa Rosa, with many wineries close by, but even without the vineyards the landscape is beautiful. Last week there was weather for a little hike around the lake. Weren’t we lucky?

Visit Watery Wednesday, Outdoor Wednesday, Weekend Reflections, SOOC and Scenic Sunday for more neat photos with a theme. And while you are here, do click on a new category, here or next door at Free Photos, to see something new.

Winter day at the water’s edge

It was clear overhead but all misty and mysterious out on the water. Can’t you just hear the foghorns?

Visit Watery Wednesday for more interesting kinds of water photos, Outdoor Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, Weekend Reflections, Skywatch Friday and Sunday Shadow Shots. This one is straight out of the camera, too.
