Even gray skies can be scenic, once in awhile. I love this image and am calling it my weekly Top Shot.

This large peacock window over the entrance to Seattle’s beloved Volunteer Park Conservatory on Capitol Hill is the original window, and over one hundred years old. It is beautiful on sunny days and on gray and rainy ones as well.

This pink pieris japonica shrub, or andromeda, is growing at my driveway and just coming into bloom. It has a sweet, delicate fragrance. It is also called lily of the valley shrub.

In a commercial building that is not fully leased, I saw the light pour in. It gave me a good feeling.

These boats (and a houseboat!) are tied up at Lake Union in Seattle, WA. I do love the reflections that show Seattle’s gray skies very well.

This tender yellow cactus flower (original flower is a few inches across) is available as a print for your home or office, one of 15 stunning images from my book, Flowers of Volunteer Park Conservatory: Blooming Month by Month. They have no watermark, of course. All are 8″ x 10″ archival quality photo prints and I’ve firmly matted them in white to 11 x 14″ and signed each one. You can check them all out and order here or by clicking on the Prints tab above.

This photo was taken on a warm and perfect August evening in Moses Lake, Washington. Doesn’t it almost look like a rainbow in the water reflection?

While I was in the Seattle Art Museum the other day I took this photo of an empty room I’d never seen. I hope that was OK. Pressed for time, I didn’t get to read anything about it. A recreation of a European room, perhaps from the Renaissance? What a lovely feeling it gave me.

I am embarrassed to admit that in the ten years I have lived in the Seattle area, yesterday was my first visit to the Bellevue Arts Museum. Beautiful place! They permitted photography on the first floor, and I was totally entranced with this life-size cast glass sculpture. I am including a full image of it, plus the information posted on the museum wall about it.
