Almost Spring

Almost but not quite Spring; just a few more days until the calendar tells us it’s official. My forsythia is getting ready.

Backlit amaryllis

I’ve gotten a lot of pleasure out of the planted big amaryllis bulb I got in December. This is its third flower stalk!

The light is growing

I can feel the light growing! The earth has tipped its axis and the daylight begins to return. Happy New Year to you and yours.

Hardy fuchsias, just watered

Trying to get my garden well watered ahead of a big heat wave coming up. These small flowered hardy fuchsias bloom so well in the late summer garden.

Hardy fuchsias actually like quite a bit of sun, unlike the other, tender kinds

Backlit rose

Double Delight is one of my top fave roses. Lit from behind, glowing like the star it is.

Bleeding hearts

For a brief time it was sunny out. The garden is in bloom.

I heart bleeding hearts! Pink and white spring flowers in my yard.

Rose and orchid bouquet at NWFGS

I am still enjoying my photos from this spring’s Northwest Flower & Garden Show in Seattle. This stunner was on a tall glass pedestal.

Orange clivia

This beautiful bulb plant, related to amaryllis, grows well in mass plantings in Mexico. But here it is in our own Volunteer Park Conservatory!

Interlaken grapes

Our backyard grape vine is doing pretty well this year. We might get ten bunches! The raccoons decimated the plums but haven’t taken all of these (yet). So sweet and delicious. If you can, plant a grapevine.
