Lacecap hydrangea

Went to the spring thrill of Northwest Flower & Garden Festival in Seattle, always a wonderful photo opportunity.

Spring garden

Yesterday Seattle had just incredibly gorgeous weather: delightfully warm, sunny, and calm. Did I mention warm and sunny? It has been so very cold and gray this year, so I treasure these rare bursts of heaven. The irises are gearing up.

My garden and part of my neighbor’s. Bluebells and forget-me-nots, plus irises to come.

Pink pieris

Also called Japanese andromeda, pieris is a stellar shrub that thrives in the Pacific Northwest. And they are fragrant! Little bells of wonderfulness.

Daffodil bouquet

The weather may still be wintry here in Seattle this year, but those daffodils never cease to thrill.

Sun and warmth are promised!

Hardy fuchsia in my garden

Hardy fuchsia is very good in the fall garden, still going strong. Blooms in shade or sun. They look like earrings to me. What do they look like to you?

Tree leaves backlit

Got to go on a very short woodsy walk in Central Washington, haven’t for a very long time. The sun peeked out and the leaves above lit up. Bliss for me.

Leafy pattern above. Can you see the shaggy lichen on the branches.

Grape hyacinth buds

These blue-purple flowers grow so well in my Seattle garden, gently spreading every year. This stage is just the buds, getting started.

Pink honeysuckle

For some reason, our honeysuckle is loaded with blossoms this year. This plant is from a cutting I took several years ago from an unoccupied home’s yard. The plant was thriving in shade and clearly had not been watered in forever. Mine is planted on the north side of my house, but I find that it does seem to need regular watering. The scent at night wafting up to the windows is amazing.
