Wooden kayaks

Strolling along the shore at Bowman Bay in Deception Pass State Park in Washington, I encountered this gorgeous pair of wooden kayaks. The light, the scenery, the kayaks made this one of my top fave shots, ever. It’s completely straight out of the camera (see SOOC Sunday for more), too: just all there waiting for me to click the shutter. And only seconds later, the owner of the beauteous boats came and dragged them to the parking lot, and that was that. You gotta be quick. I’m calling it my Best Post of the Week, but this is a good week for scenic photos for me, so please click on Sara’s Fave Photos above and check out the other images, especially the ones immediately above and below this post.

This photo is entered in Ruby Tuesday 2, Scenic Sunday, Color Carnival, Shadow Shot Sunday 2, and Outdoor Wednesday. Thanks  so much for visiting!

Puget Sound sunset

Finally, a scenic post! Even I get tired of flower photos sometimes. But not for long, as you will see. This sunset overlooking Puget Sound was taken at a different spot than my usual overlook which sadly doesn’t get a good view west. This is from a beach in Three Tree Point, WA, quite close to my home. You can bet I’ll be back.

If you have a minute or two, visit Scenic Sunday, Pink Saturday, Shadow Shot Sunday 2, Skywatch Friday, Outdoor Wednesday, A Piece of Heaven, and Weekend Reflections, why don’t you? Thanks for visiting here, always.

Colorful boat hulls

When I went to the East coast in March, I was lucky enough to take some scenic drives, especially in Connecticut. You can’t go wrong with boats stacked on the beach, waiting for the good weather to come again. Especially with colors like these! Come to think of it, this would make a neat jigsaw puzzle, wouldn’t it?

You might check out Scenic Sunday, Outdoor Wednesday, Skywatch Friday, A Piece of Heaven, Ruby Tuesday 2, Color Carnival, Mellow Yellow Monday and Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Lots out there worth a browse. But poke around here first, why don’t you, and maybe click on a new tag or category, just for fun.

Eagle flying at dusk

This is from last year when we went camping at the Dungeness Recreation Area campground in the Olympic Peninsula in the Pacific Northwest. To me, the water and the pinkish, foggy air is even more beautiful than the big flying bird, but it was quite a moment in any case.

Visit Wordless Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, Outdoor Wednesday, Pink Saturday, Scenic Sunday, Skywatch Friday and Camera Critters for more photo fabulousness.

Last minute reminder: If you are in Seattle tomorrow on Thursday, August 4 at 6-8pm, please come to the Conservatory’s free Open House and book signing for my new book, Flowers of Volunteer Park Conservatory: Blooming Month By Month. Take a tour and meet the author (me!). You can find more info about the book on the home page here, or order at pre-launch prices with free shipping on the Book Order page. Thanks for visiting!

Tiny beachcomber

When the sun comes out, Seattlites get outside. We live for sunbreaks. This is the beach north of the Des Moines, WA, fishing pier, taken on a brief sunny interlude the other day. The clouds were doing their Spring thing, and only moments later looked completely different. These neat clouds make me call this my Best Post of the Week.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more skies from around the whole world. Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, Blue Monday and SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera) are great memes, too. I’m trying a new meme, Photo Challenges (nature) this week. Be sure to browse around here first. Try a new tag or category at right, perhaps?

Bald eagle

At the Dungeness Recreation Area north of Sequim in the Olympic Peninsula is a wonderful trail, free to use, of a bluff along the water of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The weather was quite cool and foggy but of course it was a great walk anyway, nice easy stroll, when what did I see but a bald eagle, sitting right there. He was maybe 30 feet away. The little Canon S90 didn’t do too bad, considering the low light and the distance. I loved that he was looking out at the view, same as us.

Let’s try a new meme. How about Camera Critters? A very popular group of talented photographers.

Beach at Fort Worden

When we were in Port Townsend a few weeks ago, the weather was fine and the boats were out. This group might even have been having a regatta of some sort. Of course I loved the sign. Yes! Beach this way!

Try a new tag or category (return to the latest and all posts by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos above) and then check out Watery Wednesday, Outdoor Wednesday, and Scenic Sunday as well.

Port Townsend beach

A recent trip to Ft. Worden in Port Townsend yielded lots of fun photos and magnificent scenery. How’s this for a view?

Visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday to see more on the theme, or meme. Click here and there around this blog first to see some neat photos you might have missed. Sara’s Fave Photos above will take you back to the latest post and all the photos.

I like this one very much, even a week later (how quickly we move on!) and I’m tagging it Best Post of the Week.

Heart-shaped rocks

Walking along the beach at Fort Worden when we were in Port Townsend recently, we found not one, but a matched set of heart-shaped rocks. It seems to me that Western Washington has more than its fair share of them. We find them frequently while digging in the yard. I don’t know what to do with them, but gosh they are cute.

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday after browsing around here. But first try clicking on the Shadow category, or perhaps Landscape? Anyway, you will see all the posts if you click on Sara’s Fave Photos above.

Puget Sound from Seahurst Park

We went to a new (to us) park nearby in Burien, WA. Hubby has discovered geocaching and of course I wanted to try scenic shots with my new Canon s90 Powershot camera. What do you think? This it totally straight out of the camera (SOOC). I am trying to master the manual controls, a very difficult endeavor. This had the ISO set to 80. I thought I understood cameras and settings from my old SLR film camera days, but these have so very many settings that there seems to be no logic to it.

In any case, check out Watery Wednesday for more cyberwetness. And you can always stop by Scenic Sunday (I’m early, I know) for more scenigasms.
