White dutch irises

From my backyard, the other day. I already pulled up the forget-me-nots since then. They fill in so well, looking great when not much else is blooming, but then a certain point is passed, and out they go. No problem with new plants volunteering for next year, of course, perhaps even too vigorously reseeding, but when you have a big place to fill up, these do a fine job. And the dutch irises seem to be quite easy, as well, returning now for the third time and more than I planted. Gardening is so fun when it works out well.

Visit Today’s Flowers, Shadow Shot Sunday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Mellow Yellow Monday, Blue Monday, Macro Friday, Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday and Outdoor Wednesday. Clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos brings you back to the latest post here always.

Springtime sunset

I only wish this was taken on a fancy trip somewhere, but no, just the parking lot at my local Trader Joe’s. But it doesn’t matter, does it? The sky shows its beauty to parking lots and palaces alike. I hope you get to see a lovely start to an evening like this once in awhile, no matter where you are.

Visit Skywatch Friday, Pink Saturday, Color Carnival (now in a new home), Blue Monday, Outdoor Wednesday, and Scenic Sunday when you get a chance. And do check out a new tag or category here. Pink and white tulip

Hope you are not tired of tulip close ups. It’s actually been sunny the last couple of days here in Seattle, so a morning walk was just the thing. Some tulips are still around, and this one was glorious. Now it can live forever on the internet at its peak of beauty.

Macro Flowers Saturday is back! Visit Maia there as she’s sure to have some lovelies. Also check out Macro Friday, Pink Saturday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Skywatch Friday, Today’s Flowers, Blue Monday and Macro Monday. If only you see only one photo below, do click on Sara’s Fave Photos for the complete display.

Seattle blue sky with clouds

Sometimes photographic errors turn out kind of well. I didn’t expose this properly, but I love the deep, dramatic effect it gives that sky. The cityscape becomes quite unimportant, which in this case it is, because I admit it was those clouds that made me point that camera.

Visit Skywatch Friday, Blue Monday, Outdoor Wednesday, and Scenic Sunday if you’d like to see more photos with themes. Memes are great and I find them quite inspiring. Do post something yourself and join the fun. And try something like the “cloudscape” tag (lower right) here before you go.

Mini Spring bouquet

This Spring is late, late, late. I checked my garden photo archives and this sweet mini-bouquet was taken last year, two weeks before this date, and we are not up to several of these flowers quite yet. I did see a few lilies of the valley out there, yes on the violets, and the forget-me-nots definitely, but not yet for the blue bachelor buttons or lavender scabiosa. I don’t know what that magenta one is; maybe a kind of geranium. Soon all will bloom. We are waiting!

Visit Watery Wednesday (the water in the vase counts, doesn’t it?) and Wordless Wednesday for more photo fun. Also check out Today’s Flowers, Macro Friday, Blue Monday, Color Carnival and Macro Monday. After browsing around here, of course. If you see only one photo below, click on Sara’s Fave Photos for more, and possibly more recent photos.

Dusk overlooking Puget Sound

This was taken exactly one year ago, around the block from my house. Sunsets have an eternal quality, although they are so brief in reality. I do love this time of day with its soft, pink light, and hope you like this view of a peaceful moment.

Visit Blue Monday, Watery Wednesday, Outdoor Wednesday, Wordless Wednesday, Skywatch Friday, Pink Saturday, Weekend Reflections and Scenic Sunday. Thanks for browsing around here first. And you can always click on the banner above, Sara’s Fave Photos, to see all the photos here.

Cirrus clouds or mares’ tails

These high, wispy clouds are some of my favorites. They are a high pressure kind of thing, but I think mean that low pressure, or rain, is on the way. I just love the streaky look they have, sort of painted on the sky. This is that fishing pier in Des Moines, WA, that you’ve seen in other photos below, from a different angle.

Grape hyacinth or muscari

There’s a garden meme called Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day, and each month on the fifteenth people post what’s blooming in their garden that day. It encouraged me to go outside just now, because the rain actually did stop. For now. Aren’t these tiny bells cute?

Also check out Macro Friday, Today’s Flowers, Blue Monday, Macro Monday, and SOOC Sunday. Click on Sara’s Fave Photos, here or above, to see the whole blog.

Tiny beachcomber

When the sun comes out, Seattlites get outside. We live for sunbreaks. This is the beach north of the Des Moines, WA, fishing pier, taken on a brief sunny interlude the other day. The clouds were doing their Spring thing, and only moments later looked completely different. These neat clouds make me call this my Best Post of the Week.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more skies from around the whole world. Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, Blue Monday and SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera) are great memes, too. I’m trying a new meme, Photo Challenges (nature) this week. Be sure to browse around here first. Try a new tag or category at right, perhaps?

View from the fishing pier

Puget Sound views can be glorious, and sunshine really helps. I heard that we have had rain on 36 of the last 40 days (and those four were probably cloudy), and continuing showers and rain in the forecast. But Friday had a bit of sun, and I was lucky enough to get out to the Des Moines, Washington fishing pier for this euphoric view.

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday, Scenic Sunday, Blue Monday, Outdoor Wednesday, and Watery Wednesday for more intriguing works. Remember, the banner above with Sara’s Fave Photos brings you to the full blog here.
