A young friend is graduating high school and I am so happy with how my roses are coming along that I went and cut these for her as a gift. There are lots and lots more out there for more bouquets very soon. Cut your roses and enjoy them!

Here’s a bouquet that you just don’t see very often: a giant star. It was another of those florist competitors in the NWFGS in Seattle last month. You shudda seen it!

At the NW Flower & Garden Show in Seattle that just ended, the theme was Hollywood, and I believe the name of this giant monolith of a display was Sunset Strip. Maybe because it is kind of the colors of the sunset? It was at least 4 or 5 feet tall. Here’s a piece of the center section.

Well, the NW Flower & Garden Show in Seattle is over until next year. We had a lot of fun, met some wonderful people, and sold some books, jewelry and prints. Here is a photo I took of one of the florist competition bouquets. Such loveliness.

The NW Flower & Garden Show is coming up in a few weeks here in Seattle at the Convention Center, and my daughter Lila and I will be there at Love That Image‘s booth 2806 with the book, the jewelry, and now prints as well. So exciting! Naturally (besides madly making jewelry pretties) I am taking a look at some past favorite flower photos I have taken there. This one just thrills me. I have no idea what the textured yellow ball flowers are. Anyone?

I am happy that a few of my spring flower photos are on display at Today’s Flowers this weekend. I know it is rushing the season, but spring is so wonderful for those of us who just love flowers. This bouquet of pink and white tulips is a simple one, but so satisfying to me. The flowers have long faded, but the photo lives on. Not to get too spiritual about it, but maybe this is why flower photography has such a punch. It’s like cheating death, in a way. In any case, hope you enjoy the image. I’m calling it my Best Post of the Week.

Now that it’s been arranged that we will be showing our new glass tile jewelry and Flowers books a the NW Flower & Garden Show in February, I am all excited to review some of the images I’ve taken over the past few years. In a break after the rain began the other day, I went out front and cut all the roses that were opened. They just get yucky if they stay wet for any length of time, so they might as well come inside and dry off. I usually don’t do such a big cutting of  roses, preferring to keep them in the garden for everyone’s enjoyment, but since much rain was predicted, what else could I do?

The flowers for sale at Pike Place Market in Seattle, all locally grown, are the most beautiful I have ever seen, anywhere. The only problem I have is that the photos I take are so intense that I have a real problem choosing one to show. A good problem to have.
